Hyped up news stories from Oklahoma City Stations

and now also from Oklahoma's newspapers

Now many stations use teases - short 30 second morsels to get your attention so you'll watch their station for your news.

However, stations in Oklahoma City use the most hyped-up, attention-grabbing, hilarious phrases for these teases than any other place in the USA I've seen the news.

This page will serve as a record to the outrageous nature of these teases. In the following lines, you'll get a taste of what OKC stations use to draw viewers to their news program.

Here's a little legend to the following hilarious morsels:

TV STATIONS

4::NewsChannel 4, KFOR, NBC affiliate and home of the most hyped weather and tease coverage. The folks here at Insanity Central have dubbed it HypeChannel 4. The 4Warn storm team is also the subject of humorous converations as well. Headed by Mike Morgan, the undisputed KING OF HYPE, this station spends more time hyping up severe weather than it spends covering actual news.

5::KOCO, ABC affiliate and the weak sister of news programming in Oklahoma City. Don't look for too many comments about this station, 'cause not that many people watch it.

9::KWTV, CBS affiliate and home of Gary England, Oklahoma City TV's most well-known meteorologist. Not one for hype, his only dark smudge is his appearance in the movie "Twister." Their news department does have a few hype problems, though, as you will see in the near future.

12::KOKH, FOX affiliate. That's all you really need to know is they are a FOX station.

NEWSPAPERS

Note: All newspaper stories and summaries are Associated Press articles unless otherwise noted.

OU::The Oklahoma Daily. Highly touted, award-winning school newspaper that has a knack for putting the most ridiculous stories they can find in their little news brief sections.

OK::The Daily Oklahoma. VERY Conservative newspaper of Oklahoma City. They also have an amusing or just plain weird story lurking in the sidebars now and then.

GAZ::The Oklahoma Gazette. Weekly paper...interesting!

Any other teases of note will have a description of the offender before the title.
