Bhagawan's Mission

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has been a name to conjure with in recent years. Lakhs of people who have been to Puttaparthi have returned with hope in their eyes and peace in their hearts. Millions of people who have listened to the magic chanting of his bhajans and his thrilling eloquence carry in their minds an unforgettable memory of what they have seen and heard. People from every nook and corner of the Globe have become His devoted disciples because of the miraculous cures He wrought for them from a distance or the wondrous signs of His presence that he vouchsafed them. Millions from all around the Globe have been drawn to Him by the books written about Him, the filmstrips on festival days in the Nilayam and on Baba and the melodious bhajan records they have listened to. Sai centers have been formed all over India and abroad. Sai literature consisting of collections of Baba's speeches and His writings is available in the original in Telugu, in English and in the leading Indian and foreign languages. A few Sathya Sai arts and science colleges have already been functioning and Baba desires to start at least one college in each state in India. Prasanthi Nilayam itself has developed into a modern ashram with the construction of thousands of apartments. At the Sathya Sai World Conference held in Bombay in 1968, He declared that it was His mission to restore India to her former spiritual glory. He said that He would not rest from his labours till this had been achieved.

The Lord Descended For All Of Us

"I HAVE MY HOME WORK TO DO: MY DEVOTEES ARE CALLING ME," Baba had declared when He was fourteen years of age. With that, He had walked out of school and home into the garden where He exhorted the huge gathering to worship the feet that were to lead mankind from untruth to truth, from darkness to light and from death to immortality. At sixteen, He announced that His mission during this incarnation was to confer bliss on all beings everywhere. Bhagawan Baba has declared repeatedly in His sweet discourses on many occasions that He has come to re establish Sanathana Dharma; His Mission is to unite the mankind into one single family and turn man towards his true destiny that is self realisation. The unfolding of His Grand Divine Mission that Bhagawan envisaged decades before is right there in front of our eyes today for every one of us to see. In Bhagawan Baba's own words "I have come," says Baba, "in order to repair the ancient highway leading man to God and I have come in response to the prayers of sages, saints and seekers for the restoration of that road". "I have come not to disturb or destroy any Faith, but to confirm each in his own Faith, so that the Christian becomes a better Christian, the Muslim a better Muslim and a Hindu a better Hindu. I have come to reconstruct the ancient highway to God; to instruct all in the essence of Vedas, to shower on all, this precious gift; to protect Sanathana Dharma, the Ancient Wisdom and to preserve it. My Mission is to serve happiness and so I am always happy to come among you, not once but twice, thrice as often as you want me." "I have a 'Task': To foster all mankind and ensure for all of them lives full of Ananda. I have a 'Vow': To lead all who stray away from the straight path, again into goodness and save them. I am attached to a 'Work' that I love: To remove the sufferings of the poor and grant what they lack. I have a 'reason to be proud': for I rescue all who worship and adore Me". "I Want to build one humanity without any religious, caste or other barriers in a universal empire of love which could enable my devotees to feel the whole as their family. My objective is the establishment of Sanathana Dharma, which believes in one God as propitiated by the founders of all religions. So none has to give up his religion or deity, but through them worship the one God in all. I have come not to disturb or destroy but to confirm and vindicate every one in his own faith."

"There is only ONE RELIGION, the Religion of Love. There is only ONE CASTE, the Caste of Humanity. There is only ONE LANGUAGE, the Language of the Heart. There is only ONE GOD and He is Omnipresent."

"The same Supreme Being who has saved Prahlada by appearing from the pillar and punishing the demonic father, the same Supreme Being who came to the rescue of Kuchela, the same Supreme Being who has descended from Vaikunta to save Gajendra(the lord of elephants) has come now to the world as Satchidanandamurthy, presiding over the hearts of all as 'Puttaparthi ShadChakravarthi'. You should realise that I have come to remind you of your reality, that in fact, every one of you is an embodiment of Satchidananda" This Sai has come in order to achieve the supreme task of uniting the entire mankind as one family through the bond of brotherhood: affirming and illuminating the Atmic reality of each being, in order to reveal the Divine, which is the basis on which the entire cosmos rests; instructing all to recognize the common heritage that binds man to man, so that man can rid himself of the animal in him and rise to the Divine which is the goal." "My task is the spiritual regeneration of humanity through truth and love. I have come to show you both Dharma Marga as well as Bhrama Marga." "I have to come to correct the Buddhi, the intellect, by various means. I have to counsel, help, command, condemn and standby as a friend and well-wisher to all so that they may give up evil propensities, recognize the straight path, tread it and reach the goal." "I have come to give you the key of the treasure to Ananda or Bliss, to tell you how to tap that spring, for you have forgotten the way of blessedness. Bring something into your daily practice as evidence of your having known the secret of the higher life from Me. Show that you have greater brotherliness, speak with more sweetness and self-control." "Avatars like Rama and Krishna had to kill one or more individuals who could be identified as enemies of the Dharmic (righteous) way of life, and thus restore the practice of virtue. But now there is no one fully good, and so who deserves the protection of God? All are tainted by wickedness, and so who will survive if the Avatar decides to uproot? Therefore, I have come to counsel, help, command, condemn and stand by as a friend and well wisher to all, so that they may give up evil propensities and, recognizing the straight mark, tread it and reach the goal. I have to reveal to the people the worth of the Vedas, the Sastras and the spiritual texts which lay down the norms. If you will accept me and say "Yes," I too will respond and say, "Yes, yes, yes." If you deny and say "No," I also echo "No." Come, examine, experience, have faith. This is the method of utilizing Me."

His Mission and Promise

"My Mission remember is just four fold: Veda Poshana: fostering of Vedas. Vidhwat Poshana : fostering of Vedic scholars. Dharma Rakshana and Bhaktha Rakshana(protection of virtue and devotees). "

"Your innate laziness prevents you from the spiritual exercises necessary to discover the nature of God. The laziness should go. It has to be driven out of man's nature in whatever shape it appears. That is My mission." "Realising the Lord within you as the motivator is a task for which He comes in human form. If you give up and surrender to the Lord, He will guard you and guide you. The Lord has come just for this very task. He is declaring that He will do so and that is the very task that brought Him here." "Let Me assure you that this is Dharma Swaroopa, this Divine Body has not come in vain. It will succeed in warding off the crisis that has come upon humanity."
