Maanas Putra
Son born from will power. Or in another words "clone". Or
brainchild. This power was with Brahmaa Jee and his sons only. They
produced some children like this but later others were born by sexual method.
Mahat-Tattwa
Brahmaa Jee.
Meditation
It is a process to concentrate your mind at one place,
normally at Bhagavaan (God). This is to remember Bhagavaan.
Naadee
(1) Naadee is the 150th part of the Ascendent in a birth chart based on
the sidereal zodiac. Such a birth chart is called Raashi Kundalee. It is
impossible to cast accurate charts without knowing which Naadee is ruling
a person or time.Each Naadee has an aspect of the Devee ruling it and a solar and lunar part,
that is why there are 3,600 Naadee in the zodiac. (2) There are said to be
72,000 Nadee (nerves) in the human body. This number indicates a large but
not infinite of number of channels of bio-energy. They are the pathways of Praan Shakti.
Naastik
Atheist who doesn't believe in God.
Narak
Hell. When somebody does bad Karm, he is sent to Narak where only sorrows and pains are there.
Niyam
Restraint of mind or discipline.

Panchaamrit
Means mixture of five Amrit. It is used to wash the metal idol of Bhagavaan
and is the main part of Prasaad distributed after worship. It is called Charanaamrit also. It is made
of these five things: yogurt, milk, Ghee (clarified butter), honey, Gangaa water. In this
mixture Ghee is very little. It is about 1/2 cup each of yogurt, milk, and
Gangaa Jal, 1 tsp Ghee. and 5-7 tsp honey to make it sweet. And a few
leaves (dry or fresh) of Tulasee as Bhagavaan Vishnu does not take anything without Tulasee.
Paramaarth
Parmaatmaa (God). And to do good to others without self-interest.
Pind Daan
Pind are the small balls of food offered during the Shraaddh ceremony.
Praanaayaam
Praanaayaam is the process to control one's Praan (the air which we breath).
Pranav
Omkaar, or Aum.
Purush
Purush word has been used for a human being. But Aadi-Purush is used to
refer to Paramaatmaa or Bhagavaan, or Hari.

Saadhak
Who practices Praanaayaam and meditation.
Saamagree
Saamagree is a mixture of a few things which is used to offer Aahuti in
Havan (in sacred fire). It may include - white sesame seeds, Ghee, sugar, rice,
barley, some sweet smelling material.
Saashtaang Pranaam
Saashtaang Pranaam means Sa=with, asht=eight, and ang=parts. So with this
method Bhagavaan is greeted with eight body parts. Those parts are:
hand, feet, knees, chest, head, eyes, heart, speech. This is done in
normally lying in on the stomach position, by joining both palms together
and saying, "I greet thee with pure heart".
Samidhaa
Twigs. Short (1-2 feet long), thin dry branches for Yagya. All woods are not
used for this purpose; only certain kinds of woods are used, such as mango, maple.

Gun of Reconciliation between activity and passivity.
Shauch Cleanliness of outside body as well as inside of the body. Outside
cleanliness is achieved by taking bath, washing mouth, hand and feet etc;
inside cleanliness is achieved by Praanaayaam.
Siddhi
Any power which is attained after doing some Jaap, or Yagya, or Yog or by
some other way. There are 18 Siddhi. [11/15]
Smriti
Remembering or memory. And there are some religious books which are also called
Smriti, because they were written by their memory.
Snaatak Graduate. Whose education is finished.
Soot
When a Braahman marries a Kshatriya woman, their children are called
Soot. In olden days Soot men were allowed only to serve kings: for example
Raajaa Shaantanu's Saarathee (charioteer) Adhirath was Soot, and thus Karn
who was brought up by him was always called Soot Putra (son). Besides
Sanjaya who was the Saarathee of Dhritraashtra was also a Soot Putra.
Ugrashravaa was also a Soot. He was so much known as Soot that he got known
as Soot only. Very few people knew his name. He was the son of Muni
Romharshan.

Taap
Heat. In another meaning sorrows or pains. There are three types of Taap:
(1) Adhidaivik Taap (These sorrows are given by Devtaa and we don't have
any control on them);
(2) Adhibhautik Taap (These sorrows are related to body, some of them are
curable some are not)
(3) Adhyaatmic Taap

Teerth
Teerth is a holy place where either Bhagavaan's idol, or a pond, or a river
is there. Normally wherever an idol is there, some kind of water body is
necessary, as in Hindu Dharm people worship after taking bath or doing Aachman.
So for Aachman a well or some kind of water source is required.
Titikshaa
Tolerating pain through justice. Means when you have done something bad,
crime, sin and if you are getting punishment for them, tolerating that punishment is called Titikshaa.
Trishnaa
Wanting more and more and still being unsatisfied.
Tyaag
Leaving something. Such as if you leave eating potato then you can say, "I
have left (Tyaag) eating potato." This is the most simple example but there
may be very big and complex Tyaag also, like "Leaving all worldly desires",
or "leaving home" etc.

Varn
There are four Varn in Hindu religion - Braahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya, and
Shoodra.
Varn Sankar
Means the children born from the parents of different Varn (caste), such
as Braahman and Kshatriya, or Kshatriya and Vaishya etc. When a Braahman
man marries a Kshatriya woman, their children are called Soot.
Vidhi-Nishedh
Vidhi means "method", and Nishedh means "to prohibit". Vidhi
means that some Karm are prescribed with "prescribed method" and Nishedh means
that some Karm are "prohibited". Thus these words are in relation to Karm.

Yam
Yam has four meanings:
(1) to sustain, to support, to hold
(2) Rein, charioteer
(3) self-control - These are 10 types (Brahmcharya, Dayaa, Shaanti, Daan, Satya,
Arjav, Ahinsaa, Asteya, Maadhurya, and Dam)
(4) The ruler of the blessed dead Yam Raaj. He gives the dead a resting place and
prepares an abode for him. Although Yam rules the dead, he is not feared, rather
loved, because of the belief that upon death a person joins his ancestors in
heaven. Yam is also regarded as Dharm Raaj or Devtaa of justice. Yam is mentioned
in Rig Ved as one of the sons of Vivaswat, a human being. Puraan say that he is
the son of Soorya (Vivaswaan) and Chhaayaa. Yam and his sister Yamee are
also found in Paarasee scriptures as Yim and Yimeh. In Hindu society, incest is
considered great sin. In order to illustrate this, a dialog between Yam and
Yamee is described in Rig Ved wherein Yamee wants to seduce her brother, but Yam
successfully repulses her by pointing out the sinfulness of such a course. (Rig
Ved 10:10)
Yog
There are three types of Yog through which one can attain Bhagavaan.
Gyaan Yog, Karm Yog, and Bhakti Yog. There is one Yog Saadhanaa also to attain Brahm.
Yojan
1 Yojan = 4 Kos.
1 Kos = 2 and 1/4 miles.
