Gun
Gun has two meanings:-
(1) One meaning of Gun is intrinsic characteristic of Prakriti (nature),
primordial nature. There are three Gun -
(i) Sat or Sattwa or Saatwik, or Sato Gun (purity) - The Saatwik aspect refers
to Divine aspect in man in contrast to the animal and human aspects in him. This
Gun is characterized by purity, luminosity, lightness, harmony and production of
pleasure. It is the purest aspect of all the three Gun.
(ii) Raj or Rajas or Raajas, or Rajo Gun (activity) - One of the three Gun that
compose the Universe and all in it. It refers to human aspect in man in contrast
to animal and Divine aspects in him. This Gun's qualities are vibration,
activity and motion.
(iii) Tam, or Taamas, or Tamo Gun (stolidity) - One of the attributes of
primordial nature - Prakriti. In this Gun energy tends to move downward. Its
qualities are stability, stagnation, dullness, inertia, darkness.
(2) Attributes. In this sense it is used to describe God's two forms - Nir-Gun
and Sa-Gun. His Nir-Gun form, being without attributes, has no form and thus is
difficult to concentrate upon. While His Sa-Gun form, with attributes, has
innumerable forms and is easy to concentrate and meditate upon. Beginners begin
to meditate upon His Sa-Gun form only, then they gradually move towards His Nir-Gun
form.

Maandavya Rishi. They thought that Maandavya Rishi was also in the group of
thieves, so they caught him also with thieves. With the order of the king all
of them were assigned death punishment. When Raaja knew this, he got the Rishi back and
asked for his forgiveness. He asked Yam Raaj - "What was my sin to get
this punishment?" Yamraaj said - "You pierced a Tiddee with the tip of
a Kush". Muni said - "I must have done that unknowingly, and you punished me
