Maharshi Sharadwaan had two children - one son and one daughter from Janapadee Apsaraa. The Apsaraa left them on Prithvi and went away after giving them birth.

They were found by Raaja Shaantanu while he was on a hunting trip. He named them Kripaa and Kripee, brought them home and gave them to his Raaj Purohit to bring them up. When they were grown, Kripaa became the Kul Purohit of Kaurav family, and Kripee was married to Drone who was the Guru of Kaurav and Paandav. They had a son named Ashwatthaamaa.
