Plot to attack temples, kill VIPs unearthed in TN

Security has been beefed up at residences
of VIPs and at temples in Tamil Nadu following unearthing of a conspiracy
to assassinate important leaders and target temples across the state,
police said on Wednesday.
The security for Sankaracharya of
Kanchipuram Jayendra Saraswathi and BJP National Secretary L Ganesan
has been tightened, they said, adding armed guards have been posted
near important temples like Meenakshi Amman at Madurai, Sri Ranganathar
- Sriranagam and Sri Kapalleswarar in Chennai.
Police had on Tuesday claimed aborting
an attempt by members of a newly-formed fundamentalist group, Muslim
Defence Force, to assassinate important political and religious
leaders and also bomb temples on December 6, eleventh anniversary
of Babri Masjid demolition.
Security at Chennai Central and
Egmore railway stations and at the newly-constructed bus terminal
at Koyambedu has also been tightened, they said.
