In 1975, due to the expansion of guiding in South Australia, regions were formed to facilitate more efficient management.  Broken Hill became part of the Inland Region.  This region covered the greatest area of the state.  It included Peterborough, Port Augusta, Quorn, Coober Pedy, Woomera, Tibooburra and Menindee.  Mrs W.M. Hepburn was appointed first Region Commissioner of this area.

Twenty years later the Australian Girl Guides Association felt it was time to update its image and redirect programs to meet the needs of the girls and leaders.  It was recognised that girls are capable of planning, implementing and evaluating their own programs, which helps them grow into confident, self-respecting and responsible community members.  The leaders will play a vital role in fostering and supporting the girls as they grow in confidence and maturity.

The guide Movement is now known as Guides Australia and the Broken Hill Region is attached to Guides South Australia.

Mrs Fiona Nash is the present Region Commissioner.

All girl members between 6-18 years are known as guides.  They have a formal uniform.  T-shirts, shorts and jeans are acceptable for meetings and outdoor activities.

All girls between ages 6-18 are welcome to join any of the local units.  They can look forward to joining an action packed organisation emphasising fun, friendship, adventure and personal challenge
