Weather: Windy, cold and wet. A night .

     Friday night in the rain jacket distance runners tested themselves among some of the best distance runners in northern California. We had three first time competitors run great first races. Beniam(5:02.2), and Andrew(5:00.9) in heat 6, were in the hunt the entire race and set themselves up for breaking 5 minutes early in the season. Mike(5:28.9) in the next heat got out well but had a hard time finishing. Gail ran a time trial Weds day and ran 6:09 also setting herself up to break 6 minutes early in the season. They had great first races. Returning runners got off to a fantastic start as well coming close to PR's if not breaking them. Modupe was five second off her 1600 PR while Katie improved by 4 seconds. On the boys side Ricardo got out and into the race improving his PR by 5 seconds. Gordon continued the trend improving from the season openerlast weekend by 8 seconds. One of the best surprises was seeing Sarmed after his secret early morning training. He did not PR but ran a solid race. Nic got the PR's back in the second to last heat. He improved his time by a second, showing he is back starting the season where he left off. Alex ran one of toughest race of the rainy evening. He was boxed in and cut off numerous times and found himself in tenth with 300meters to go and won with a final lap of 60 seconds. He also came back and ran a solid 800meter race. Garett in his second 800 improved a by a second. Spencer got out well maybe a little to well and a hard time finishing.

       Remember this is only the start of the season. There are many meets and days of school left. Continue to support one another, train hard and work in school!!! Do not pull a Petty
