Born in England this exciting young
cellist has been in great demand since graduating from the Eastman School
of Music, Rochester NY, with a Master of Music degree in June 2003 studying
with Steven Doane and Rosie Elliot. He began his studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire where he won major prizes for cello and graduated with a first class BMus (Hons) degree after which he took up an invitation to study at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, Germany with the internationally acclaimed cellist and teacher Alexander Baillie. |

During his time in Germany he gave many solo recitals and performances, including live broadcasts for Radio Bremen and Deutschland Radio, Berlin. He also performed Dvorak's cello concerto conducted by Martin Fischer-Dieskau and Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations with Cello Sound Bremen. He has worked with the leading orchestras in Britain and abroad, The Philharmonia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Bremen, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, New York and as Principal Cello for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra of Opera North. |

He is a member of the recently formed Prometheus Piano Trio which has already had many critically acclaimed performances and has also performed with "The Fibonacci Sequence" ensemble and has appeared on BBC Radio an Television. Recently he has been made an Honary Member of the Birmingham Conservatoire (HON BC) |

Aside from playing the cello, Benjamin enjoys developing new ideas for instruments. In 1994 he won first prize in a national "Design and Technology" competition for the Design and making of a newly shaped musical instrument, and has also made an Electric version!
