Day 52, Aug. 7th, we were back on the bikes and starting the home stretch to the big apple. It was a tricky 90 miles to our destination on the Canadian side of Niagra Falls. You really start to appreciate the route maps ABB gives you everyday when you have to start navigating for yourself. Today was definitely and education of why you don't go too backroad, and definitely try to stay clear of large cities. We had to backtrack twice and found ourselves on a dirt road another time. And trying to get across town when there is a river that needs to be crossed is tricky. It was so hot today that it was tough to breathe when the heat came up off the road. Once in to Niagra Falls, we had to find a room. First look, $259, no way. Next stop wanted $60 Canadian, now that is more in my ballpark. Nevermind that only 2 in 5 lights worked and there was no phone...
Everything was forgotten when we finally got down to the falls. They were amazing! We definitely had to take a ride on the Maid of the Mist (above) to see the falls real close up. And upon the advice of our neighbor, Bonnie, we wore the blue slipovers. It was  a very wet ride and at one point while under the Horshoe Falls, the boat was at full power just to hold its position amongst the falls. We hung out enjoying the falls until night when they light them up in various colors.
