It's hard to talk about Andy Starr, the musician, without talking about Andy Starr, The Man.
Andy, aka "The Ultimate Rebel" was born Franklin Delano Gulledge in Mill Creek, Arkansas in 1932.
In addition to claiming to be the "world's first rockabilly male stripper, Andy says that "in his prime as an entertainer" he had slept with over 5000 women!
Andy's amphetamine-fueled hiccups and furious Gretsch twangin' made him a smash hit with the ladies, but the fame and fortune quickly went to his head. His legendary boozin', pill poppin' and debauchery led him to Alaska where he tried to "dry out" but soon found himself to be the local star...there's just no escape, is there Andy?
Andy went from booze & drugs in the 50's to "findin' religion" in the 60's, and actually ran for Idaho State senator in 1974!
Andy's outrageous rockabilly singles on the Lin and MGM labels are every bit as essential as anything by the "big-name guys" at Sun.
...And that's only about ten thousand times more "essential" than anything to have come out of England in the 60's.
