Varosa, or Maras, the region long disputed and currently under UN control lies between the Northern and Southern sectors of Cyprus.

This once diversely populated city of Cypriots both from Turkish and Greek origin now lay in ruins following the series of conflicts on the Island in the early '70s. The houses are left behind with furniture intact, car dealerships with decayed car carcasses still on display. Access to the city is not allowed, thus the streets of Varosa or Maras is populated only by occasional stray animals or by soldiers who guard the ghost town.

Still building. Please come back soon for more pictures of Varosa. If you need them immediately please e-mail me.
