Makenzie Reynolds sped down the busy state highway towards Genoa City in her little black sports car. A present from her grandmother for her eighteenth birthday. She was heading home for summer break from college. And she had a mixture of emotions churning inside her. She flipped on the radio as a distraction and a new song began to play. (The song is called "I Swear It Again" by the group Westlife) I wanna know who ever told you I was letting go of the only joy I have ever known Girl they were lying..... "No," she cried as she flipped off the radio. "Why does this always happen?" It had been almost a year and a half since she'd seen Billy Abbott, the love of his life. They hadn't parted on the best of terms the day she left for college. And the only reason she was returning was because of her grandmother's pleading and begging! 'I can't do this,' she told herself. 'I don't want to see him again!' In all truth she did, but she would never admit that to anyone, her life was on track and she was doing great on her own. She had made the honor roll the six quarters she had been there and she was very active in student government and other school activities. She didn't need this stress in her life, and there was no doubt in her mind that Billy Abbott would bring stress. The scenery flew by as she drove closer to home and her stomach did more summersalts. She slowed down as she drove down the off ramp and drove down the familar and turned onto road that would lead her home. She past many familar buildings then drove through the rich neighborhoods till she reached the estate. As she drove up the long driveway she gasped at the beauty she'd almost forgotten. She put the car in park then opened the door stepping out on to the cement driveway. As she walked around to the back of the car and opened the trunk she heard the front door open and she sighed as saw her grandmother and dad come toward her with their arms open. "Mackenzie you made it my darling. We've have missed you so much," her grandmother smiled. "Hi grandma it feels good to be home," Mac lied. Her grandmother let her go from her embrace and Mac turned to her father. "How's my girl?" he asked hugging her tightly. "Great daddy, I couldn't be better," she lied again. "Come on. let's get you settled in your room." Brock lifted her suitcase from the trunk and headed to the house with her grandma. Mac hesitantly approached the steps, took a deep breath and climbed them and entered the house. "Mac how are you?" Esther asked. "Good," she replied. "How have you been?" "Oh you know," she replied. "Yeah," smiled Mac. "I do know!" Brock walked down the stairs and approached her. "I but your bags in your old room," he said with a smile. "Good, I'd like to freshen up a little," she said. "But darling we wanted to hear about college," Kay said. "Could we talk about it over dinner?" Mac asked. "It was a long drive and I'd like to rest a while." "Oh, of course how rude of me, you go ahead." Kay said with a warm smile. Mac returned the smile and headed up the stairs to her room. When she entered the room she glanced around and noticed that it hadn't changed since the day she left. She walked over to the bed and unzipped her largest suitcase and began unloading its contents. As she unloaded her suitcase her mind traveled to the last moment she'd been in her room. The day she'd been packed and ready to go when Billy had arrived. He had asked to speak to her and she of course had said "Sure!" What he had gone on to tell her had shocked her to the core and nearly prevented her from leaving that day. What he had said that day had nearly shattered her life completely. Billy Abbot drove up the estate driveway and noticed the the black sports car. 'Who's here?' he wondered. He parked his red sports car and stepped out. He set the alarm and then climbed the steps, entering without a knock. "Anyone here?" He called. "Yes Billy, there's no need to shout," said his mother Jill. "Sorry mother," he said with a smile. "This is a nice surprise," she said giving him a hug. "Well I arrived home from Harvard last night and thought I'd come to visit you," he replied. "Who's car is out front?" "Oh Mackenzie's. She's home for the summer I guess." She replied without looking up from the glass of orange juice she was pouring. Billy's mouth dropped open and he dropped his keys to the floor. "Billy what on earth?" asked Jill. "Did you just say Mac is here?" He asked. "Well, I don't know if she is here at this very moment, but yes she's staying here for the summer," replied Jill with a confused look. "Well dear, if you'll excuse me I have something to attend. I was on my way to the office when you arrived. We'll have to pick this up later!" "Okay mom, I'll come back and see you later," he replied. As she kissed him on the cheek and walked out the door. "Mackenzie's home," he said a loud. It had been way to long since he last saw her. The very thought of her sent chills through his body and made his stomach do flips. 'How long had it been?' he asked himself. A year and a half that really was too long. It hurt him to remember the look on her face when he'd last seen her. She had been so hurt and so angry she hadn't even looked back when she walked out that very door. He had to know if she was here! He climbed the stairs two at a time and slowly approached the room at the end of the hallway. As he drew near he could hear music and stopped to listen to the words. All alone staring on Watching her life go by When her days are gray and her nights are black Diffrent shades of mundane And the one eyed furry toy, lies upon the bed Has often heard her cry Heard her whisper out a name long ago forgiven But not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're not forgotten A bleeding heart torn apart Left on an icy grave In their room where they lay face to face Nothing could get in theie way But now the memories of a man are haunting her days And the craving never fades She's still dreaming of a man long forgave But not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're not forgotten Still alone staring on Wishing her life good-bye As she goes searching for a man forgiven But not forgotten You're forgiven. not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're forgiven, not forgotten You're not forgotten You're not forgotten No you're not forgotten Billy stood in the hallway a moment and listened as the song started to play over again. He again approached the doorway and stood watching her staring out the window. She was more beautiful than he ever remembered and he thought of her often. She was wearing Kacki shorts and an olive green tank top with a black long sleeved shirt tied around her waist. 'She was quite tan and her legs were quite shapely,' he thought with a smile as he looked over at her. She turned suddenly as though she knew someone was watching her and gasped in surprise. Mac pushed those feelings and thoughts aside knowing that they only caused pain and heartache. She walked over to her stereo, put in a CD, and pushed play. She then walked over to the window and stared out into the gardens while she listened to the words of the song. She had forgiven Billy long ago for that day, but had never had the nerve to return home and face him, face to face. And now here she was and she knew that sooner or later they'd meet again. But Mac was praying for later. As the song ended she got a chill as though someone was watching her and she turned towards the doorway gasping in surprise at the sight of Billy. He was wearing Kacki pants, a black tee shirt, and brown sandals. 'He hasn't changed a bit', she thought to herself. His hair was still sandy blonde and his eyes were still that same intense blue. And of course his smile still made her heart stop. "Billy," she said the surprise still in her voice. "What are you doing here?" "Hi, Mackenzie," he said. "I was here visiting my mother and she mentioned you were home for the summer." "Yeah, Kay finally talked me into it," she replied. "It's been a long time," he said. "Way too long!" "Yes, yes it has," she said as she walked over to her suitcase. Suddenly he was behind her and he whispered, "I've missed you!" She spun around to face him and said, "I've missed you too Billy!" "I'm glad to hear that," he replied with a smile. "Because after what happen I wasn't to sure if you would." "Look Billy that was a long time ago, so let's forget it and move on," she said continuing to unpack. "If that's what you want," he said. "Yes, that's exactly what I want," she said. "Fine," he said as he watched her put her clothes in the closet and the dresser. "How have you been?" She asked, trying to change the subject. "How is college?" "Great, things are going as planned. I should graduate this fall and then I'm joining my family at Jabot," he replied sitting down on the other side of her bed. "How have things been for you?" "Great, I'm enjoying my time away from home and it's quite and experience," she replied. "I should graduate top of my class this fall too!" "That's great Mac, I always knew you'd go far," he replied. "I still don't know what I'm going to do with my life, but I think I'll come back home and figure out my options," she said as she dropped her now empty suitcase at the bottom of her closet. "Good, I know Kay and Brock have missed you," he said with his heart-melting smile. Mac sat on the bed next to him and just stared at him. "Would you go to dinner with me?" He asked. "Tonight?" She asked. "Yes," he replied. "I can't. I promise my grandma I'd eat with them and tell them about school. I'm sorry!" "Oh it's okay, we have the whole summer to get reacquainted," he replied with another smile. He stood up and walked to the door. "I have to go, but I'll be back," he said. "You can count on it!" Mac smiled at him and then he was gone and she heard the sound of the front door shut. She glanced over at the nightstand and a picture of herself and Billy smiling back at her. Did she really want him back in her life? No matter how hard she denied it, she did! Later that night, Mac walked down the stairs and into the dining room to find Kay and Brock already seated at the table. "Hello, my dear," smiled Kay. "Are you hungry?" "Yes, I'm starved," Mac replied. "Good, cause Esther's prepared all your favorites," said Brock. "Mmmmm it all looks so good," smiled Mac as she sat down across from them. She served herself a plate full and then began to eat. "So, darling how has school been?" Asked Kay. "Great grandma, I've made honor roll all six semesters and I'm very involved with other activities," replied Mac with a smile. "Such as?" Asked Kay. "Well student government, journalism, and campus radio station," replied Mac. "How wonderful!" Smiled Brock. "Have you made lots of friends?" Asked Kay. "Tons grandma, don't worry!" Laughed Mac. "That's my girl," said Kay. "Any boyfriends?" "A few, but nothing to write home about," frowned Mac. "You're too young to be in a serious relationship anyway," said Brock before he took a drink of water. "I mean look what happened last time!" "Brock!" Said Kay. "I thought we'd decided not to discuss that!" "No, it's okay grandma," said Mac. "Actually I saw him today." "You what?" Asked Brock. "Come on daddy," said Mac. "He didn't commit a crime or anything, he just...Well you know!" "Yes, I do know and if you know what is good for yourself, you'll avoid him this summer," said Brock. "Well, dad I forgave Billy long time ago," replied Mac. "And I plan on seeing him this summer, maybe going to dinner a couple of times." "No!" Said Brock firmly. "I won't have him hurting you again!" "Daddy, I'm not a little girl," said Mac. "You can't tell me what to do anymore!" "The hell I can't," he said. "No you can't," said Mac as she stood. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm suddenly feeling very tired." And with that she headed up the stairs and to her room. "Brock darling I told you not to bring that up Kay said as she heard Mac's door slam closed. You knew it would only upset her!" "I know duchess, but I just don't wan to see her hurt again" he replied. "She's a big girl Brock kay says and if she wants to to see him she can!" " But he'll only break her heart again" Brock replied. "That may be, but that's her lesson to learn she replies. She's a strong young woman and she knows what she's doing." "I hope your right he replies as he stood up and walked toward the stairs. I'll see you in the morning mother." he said before walking up the stairs. "Goodnight darling she called after him. I hope you know what your doing Mackenzie" she sighed and then stood to head upstairs herself. |

The next morning Mac woke to the sound of her alarm buzzing. She rolled over and blindly tried to find the snooze button. When she couldn't she turned it off and lay staring at the ceiling. She thought of the conversation with her father last night and sighed. "Maybe he's right, maybe I should stay away from Billy," she thought to herself. No matter how many times she told herself that, was the right thing to do, she knew she'd see him wither she wanted to or not! As she was about to flip back the covers and climb out of bed the phone rang. "Who on earth would that be?" She asked. She reached for the receiver and answered, "Hello?" "Good morning, beautiful!" Said Billy's deep smooth voice. "Hi," she smiled. "Did I wake you?" He asked. "No, I've been lying in bed thinking," she replied. "About?" He questioned. "Thing," she replied. "Okay, I can take a hint," he laughed. "What are you doing today?" "Nothing that I can think of," she replied. "Good, because I want to take you to breakfast," he said. "Where?" She asked. "It's a surprise," he replied with a grin. "Oh, don't start that again," she said, remembering that Billy loved to be mysterious. "I'll pick you up in an hour," he replied. "Okay," she said. "See you then!" "Bye," he said and then all she heard was the dial tone. 'Where could he be taking me?' she wondered. 'I guess I'll find out soon enough!' She climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom for a shower. An hour later when the doorbell rang, Mac ran down the stairs and answered it. "Hey," he said with a heart-melting smile. "You look great!" She had decided to wear a pair of olive green Kacki shorts, a black tank top, and black sandals. "Thanks," she said. "You don't look half bad yourself!" He had on jean shorts, a blue tee shirt, and brown sandals. He just smiled and then helped her into his red sports car. "Nice car," she said when he climbed in. "Almost nice as mine!" "Oh, thanks," he said sarcastically. "No problem," she laughed. They drove down the driveway and then through the streets of Genoa City. "Where are we going?" She asked. "You'll see, we're almost there," he said glancing over to smile at her. She nearly cried out when they pulled into the parking lot of Crimson Lights. "Oh, Billy!" She said. "I haven't been here since....Well since I left!" "I know, so I thought it would be a nice treat," he said opening the door for her. They walked inside and found a table. "What can I get for you?" Asked the waiter. "Ah, two coffees for now," said Billy. "Sure, I'll be right back," said the waiter. "Do the Newman's still own this place?" She asked. "Yeah, and they've expanded all across the country," replied Billy as their coffee arrived. "It feels so great to be back," she said looking around. "Better than I thought it would!" "I'm glad," he said. Just then Raul walked in and spotted Billy. "Hey man, how's it going?" He asked not noticing Mac. "Good man, but aren't you going to say Hi?" Laughed Billy. Raul turned and his eyes lit up when he saw Mac. "Oh my god, Mac!" He said as she stood up. "What are you doing here?" "Hi Raul," she said as he scooped her up in his arms. He swung her around and then hugged her once more. "How have you been?" He asked as she sat down. "Good, really good," she replied. "What are you doing here?" He asked again. "I'm home for the summer," she replied. He sat down next to her and continued to ask question after question. "I've missed you so much," he said finally. "I've missed you too," she replied. She glanced at Billy and caught him staring at her. He smiled, but didn't look away. "So, do you want to get together sometime?" Asked Raul. "Sure, I'd love too," she replied. "Well I hate to go, but I have a class to get to," he said as he stood up. "But I'll call you later, okay?" "Okay," she said with a warm smile that reached her eyes. She waved as he walked out the door and then turned back to Billy. "Sorry," she said. "Oh, don't worry about it," he said. "We should probably be going too." "Okay," she said a little disappointed. Billy paid the bill and then they headed out to the car. When they pulled up in front of the estate, Billy opened her door for her and then walked her to the front door. "Thanks for the coffee," she said. "No problem," he replied. "Can I take you to dinner, Gina's maybe?" "That would be great," she said with a smile. Suddenly he leaned in and hugged her and as he pulled back he brushed his lips to hers. "No, Billy!" She cried as a memory passed in front of her eyes. "What Mac, what's wrong?" He asked backing away. "This can't happen again," she said and then walked into the house closing the door securely behind her. She leaned against the door and thought, 'This can't happen again, we can't be more than just friends, we just can't!' 'What was that all about,' he wondered. 'That day can't still be haunting her. Doesn't she know the truth?' He walked down the front steps and climbed into his car. As he drove down the driveway he didn't notice Mac watching him from the front window with tears running down her cheeks. 'What was I thinking,' she asked herself as she turned away from the window and walked up the stairs. 'This just can't happen!' She walked down the hall and into her room, shutting the door behind her. As she walked past the mirror on her dresser she glanced at her reflection. 'Why can't you put this behind you,' she asked herself. She walked over to the bed and sat down, curling her legs beneath her. No matter how hard she tried to stop it, her mind wandered back to that day. She had been sitting in this very spot when he'd told her the news. The news that had broken her heart and ruined any future they could have ever had. "Why did it have to happen to us?" She asked aloud. "We were so happy! I thought nothing could come between us, but I guess I was wrong!" Tears streamed down her cheeks as she remember the look on Billy's face when he had told her about Brittany. That witch had ruined everything, she had not only ruined her own life, but she had ruined Billy's and Mac's too. Brittany had always gotten what she wanted, no matter who she hurt. As her mind returned to that day the phone rang from the nightstand. "Hello?" She answered. "Hey Mac, it's me." Said Raul. "Hi," she said with a faint smile. "Look I was wondering if I could take you to dinner tonight?" He asked. "Sure, I'd love too," she replied. "Great," he said. "I'll pick you up around six, is that alright?" "That's fine," she said. "Look Mac, I've really missed you," he said softly. "I've missed you too Raul, I'm looking forward to tonight," she replied. "Me too," he said. "I guess I'll see you tonight!" "Bye," she said before she hung up the phone. 'Good ole Raul' she thought. He was always there for her and she knew that no matter what he always would be. She loved him so much, but it was a different from the love she still deeply felt for Billy. "What am I going to do?" She groaned as she stretched out onto her back. She stretched once more and then climbed off the bed and headed back downstairs. When she walked into the living room she found Jill waiting for her. "Ah Mackenzie, just the young lady I wanted to see," said Jill. "What do you want Jill?" Asked Mac. "Oh, just a little chat," replied Jill. "You know, to catch up. It's been so long since we've talked!" "If I remember correctly I never liked our little talks," frowned Mac. "Oh come on Mackenzie," said Jill. "Tell me, how's school?" "Fine, I like it alot," replied Mac as she poured herself a glass of water. "Are you involved in school, do you have a boyfriend?" Asked Jill. "That's none of your business," snapped Mac. "Sorry," she said. "Anyway, what have you done since you've been home?" "Not a whole lot," Mac replied. "I had breakfast with Billy and...." she said. "You did what?" Cried Jill. "Did you say you've seen Billy?" "Yeah, why?" Asked Mac. "You know very well why!" Hissed Jill. "You're not still serious about that?" Asked Mac. "I most certainly am," cried Jill. "Well I hate to tell you this, but Billy's all grown up and so am I," said Mac. "We make decisions by ourselves now!" "Like hell you do!" She hissed. "You stay away from my son Mackenzie!" "And if I don't?" Smirked Mac. "You just try me," said Jill as she walked to the door. "Don't ignore my warning Mackenzie!" And with that she was gone, slamming the door behind her. "What a witch!" sighed Mac. Just then the doorbell rang and Mac hurried to answer it. She turned the knob and pulled the door open to find a man holding what looked to be two dozen red roses, her favorite! "May I help you?" She asked. "Yeah, I'm looking for Mackenzie Reynolds," he replied. "I'm Mackenzie," she said. "Then these are for you, sign here please." He said. She signed and then he walked past her to set the flowers on the entryway table. "Thank you," she said as she shut the door. Mac turned back to the roses and searched through the buds for a card. When she found it she opened it quickly and smiled to herself. Mac, Please forgive me for pushing you this morning. I hope we can still have dinner tomorrow night! I'll call in the morning. Love Always, Billy She stuffed the card back in the envelope and then into her pocket. Billy always managed to find his way back into her heart.Of course shed'd have dinner with him, she'd be crazy not too. She gladed at the clock and noticed that she had several hours before Raul arrived. so she decided to go for a swim. She hurried up and changed and then she walked back downstairs and stopped to smell the roses. As she headed out to the pool she thought only of Billy. Several hours later Mac walked through the living room and up the stairs to change for her dinner with Raul. She wasn't sure where they were going so she slipped into a pair of kaki's and a dark purple silk top. She then slipped on a pair of black sandals. She walked across the room and stared into the dresser mirror at her reflection. Without looking away she picked up her brush and started stroking through her hair softly. When her hair gleamed she layed the brush down and smiled at herself. Just then the doorbell rang and she hurried downstairs to answer the door. "Hey" she said with a smile when she opened the door. "Hi Raul said. Are you ready?" "Yep" she said as she stepped out onto the front porch and then clothed the door. They climbed into Raul's car and headed to dinner. "Where are we going?" she asked. "Gina's" he replied glancing over at her. "Mm I haven't been there in forever" she replied. They pulled into a parking spot and then headed into the restaurant. They were seated immediately and a waiter was sent to their table. "What can I get for you?" he asked. "Um I think I'll have a green salad and the filet of salmon please." "And I'll have the same" smiled Raul. "Yes sir" the waiter said and then he disapeared toward the kitchen. "So Raul said how's school? "Good, I like it a lot but I miss everyone she replied you?" "Oh school's great and I love it" he said. "How is Rianna? Mac asked with a sly smile. "Good she wishes she could have come today, but she had a late class today" he replied. "Well tell her to come visit anytime Mac smiled. I miss her!" "She feels the same. Anyway you and Billy seemed quite cozy when I saw you two at Crimson Lights!" Mac blushed and looked down at the table. "Come on spill it! Are you two back together?" "No no of course not she said. You know what happen before I left for school!" "Actually Mac, no I don't he said seriously. Why don't you tell me?" "Well I was getting ready to leave for school and Billy came to see me she said. And he told me Brittany was....." "Brittany was what?" he asked when she couldn't continue. " That she was pregnant and he told me that she told him the the baby was his" whispered Mac. "That's right. I remember he was really upset about it" Raul said with a frown. "So I just left that day and never looked back" replied Mac. "But didn't you hear?" he asked. "Hear what? she asked back "The baby....he started but the waiter appeared with their food. After the waiter left Mac asked "What about the baby?" "Well when Brittany was six months pregnant J.T. let it slip that the baby was his" he replied. "Raul are you serious?" Mac gasped. "Yeah Mac, afyer the baby was born they had a paternity test performed. Billy told me that he had only slept with Brittany once and it was hen she had gotten him drunk!" "Oh my God, poor Billy how can Brittany be so deceiving?" Mac wondered out loud. "So you really didn't know?" Raul asked. "No, I really thought he betrayed me" Mac replied softly, suddenly feeling the need to see Billy. They talked more about the new realization and finished their meal. "That was great Raul, thank you" Mac said with a smile. "It was my pleasure" he said. As they climbed into his car Mac said "Would you mind droping me off at the Abbott's?" "No problem" he said. They drove the short distance to Billy's and then before she stepped out of the car she kissed Raul on the cheek. "I'll call you later he replied before she shut the door. Mac hurried up the steps and rang the doorbell. Jack answered the door and said "Mackenzie is that you?" "Hello Mr Abbott she replied with a smile. Is Billy home?" "Yeah he is come on in" he said. Mac walked int the living room as Jack called for Billy. Then Jack disappeared into the kitchen. Yeah Jack what did you need? Billy asked as he came down the stairs in a pair of kakis and a black tee shirt. He stopped in the entryway and stared at Mac. Hey he said as he walked toward her. God can I do this she wondered as he walked over to her. "Hey she finally replied. "What brings you by?" he asked looking into her eyes. There was something different there, something he hadn't seen since the day she left. Mac inhaled deeply and then asked "Why didn't you tell me?" Billy stared at her for a moment then asked "tell you what?" "About Brittany" she replied. "What about Brittany?" he asked. Mac walked over to the couch and sat down then said "That the baby was J.T's?" "Billy stared at her in shock then finally replied "I thought you wouldn't care!" "Of course I care" she repllied. "I've always cared about you! You were so upset I thought you'd never want to speak to me again." he replied taking her hand. "Well ....for awhile I felt that way, but eventually I just moved on and accepted you'd be with Brittany"she replied with a slight smile. "I never wanted to be with anyone but you" he replied, "Really?"she cried. "Yeah Mac, you mean everything to me and when you left I thought I'd die!" "Oh Billy she cried as he wrapped his arms around her. He tried to kiss her but she pulled back. Oh no you don't! We are not just going to pick up were we left off! We have to start all over again!" "If that's what you want" he replied. "I should be going" she said. Macl stood and started walking toward the door and Billy followed. "I'll call you in the morning" he said. Mac leaned in and placed a kiss on his cheek and then walked down the steps toward the bus stop. Billy watched as she reached the end of the driveway and climbed onto the bus that had just pulled up. He smiled to himself and walked back into the house and up to his room. |

The next several weeks past quickly and Billy and Mac spent ever moment together. They did everything there was to do and then they did nothing at all. Sometimes just being together was enough; they had so much to catch up on. Billy sent Mac flowers constantly and soon the house looked like a flower garden, every room was filled to capacity! Mac walked around in a daze and didn't see the constant frowns that were on Kay and Brock's faces. They weren't to keen on the idea of Billy and Mac together again, but they didn't know the whole truth! Then one day Mac though her happiness would come to an abrupt hault when she saw Brittany. She walked into the coffeehouse early for her visit with Rianna and looked around for a table. She spotted one out on the patio and headed outside into the afternoon sun. The waiter took her oder for a peach smoothie, her favorite, and then she was left to wait for Rianna. Suddenly she she spotted Brittany walking through the door and she tried to go unoticed, but it was to late Brittany had all ready spotted her. "Mackenzie is that you?" She said with a fake smile. "Oh my gosh its been forever like at least a year and a half right?" "Hey Brittany, yeah its been awhile." Mac replied as Brittany sat down across from her. "how have you been?" Asked Brit. "Good and you?" Asked Mac. "Oh good," she replied. "I had my baby and we're living with my parents! I had a girl and named her Natalie!" "That's great," said Mac with a smile. "I'm really happy for you!" "Would you like to see a picture?" she asked as she dug into her wallet. "Here's her most recent photo!" The baby was the spitting image of both Brittany and JT, but that's not what Brittany wanted her to believe! "She's adorable"Mac said. "Doesn't she look just like her daddy?" Brittany asked. "Who's her father?" Mac asked as she played dumb. "Oh don't you know? Brittany asked. Its Billy." "Oh really?" Mac said "Yeah didn't you know? she asked. Actually that's why I heard you left, because of the baby I mean!" "Well you see Brittany that was the reason that I left, but now that I've been back I've talked to Billy and he's told me everything." Mac smirked, "Oh really said a cornered Brittany. Well it was nice talking to you Mac but I have to get going!" "Sure I understand it was nice talking to you." "Yeah." Brittany called over her shoulder as she walked back into the coffee house and she passed Rianna and they acted as though they diden't even know each other. "Hey Mac!" Rianna said with a smile. "Hey Rianna!" Said Mac as Rianna sat down across from her. "You'll never guess what Brittany just tried to tell me!" "What?" Asked Rianna with interest. "She just tried to tell me that Billy was the father, as if I didn't know the truth," laughed Mac as she stared at Brittany who was ordering at the bar. "You're kidding me," laughed Rianna. "No, can you believe it?" Asked Mac. "As if I'm really that stupid!" "Well, we are talking about Brittany," smirked Rianna. "I know, but oh never mind," said Mac. "So how are things with Raul?" "Perfect, couldn't be better," replied Rianna with a dreamy look. "But a better question is how are things with Billy?" "Great, perfect, divine, dreamy, I could go on if you need me to," replied Mac with a grin. "No, I get the picture," laughed Rianna. "We really need to get together with the guys and go to dinner, just the four of us!" "Yeah that's a good idea," said Mac. "Let's plan it and just tell them they're going!" "Sounds good to me," said Rianna. "What's today?" "Tuesday," replied Mac. "Well I have class Wednesday and Thursday, so let's try for Friday," suggested Rianna. "Does that work for you?" "Yeah, this summer I'm just going with the flow," replied Mac. "Say, meet at your house around seven," said Rianna. "Perfect," smiled Mac. "Great, so should we head to the mall?" Asked Rianna. "Yeah, let's go," said Mac as she fished some money out of her purse and left it on the table. As they walked towards the door Brittany turned and glared at them with true contempt in her eyes. The summer seemed to fly by, Mac and Billy's time together was way too short! They wanted more time, need more time to make up for what had been lost. But soon it was time for Mac to return to school. She tried to stretch the morning, but it was no use she had to pack. She dug out her suitcase from the bottom of the closet and flopped it onto the bed. As she packed up her clothes she thought of her time here. She was so happy things hadd worked out between her and Billy and that she'd been able to tell Brittany she'd been caught in her lies. The most fun she'd had was last night at dinner she'd had with Raul, Rianna, and Billy. She and Rianna had made dinner for the guys and it was wonderful. They sat around for hours talking about the "old days" and what was to come. Mac had transferred down here to be closer to those she'd missed. But she didn't know Billy's plans, was he still planning on going back to Harvard? Where was he anyway, he should have been here by now. Wasn't he going to say goodbye? These questions plagued her as she went through her room deciding on what to take and what to leave. She'd be back in a couple of weeks, but could she stand being away from Billy that long. "I guess I'll find out," she said aloud. Finally everything was packed and there was nothing stopping her from going downstairs to say her goodbye's. She picked up her bags and her coat and walked slowly down the hall towards the stairs. When she reached the entryway she dropped her bags by the door and walked over to Kay and her father. "I'm going to miss you my dear," sighed her grandmother. "Don't worry, I've decided to transfer down here as soon as possible," smiled Mac. "Oh darling that's wonderful," said her father as he hugged her close. "I'm going to take your bags out to the car!" "Okay," smiled Mac. She hugged her grandma one last time and then followed her dad out to the car. She kissed him goodbye and knew she couldn't put off leaving anymore, she had a long drive ahead of her. 'Where could he be?' She wondered. 'He promised he'd be here!' She waved goodbye and tears of sadness rolled down her cheeks. As she drove slowly down the driveway she saw Billy's car speed towards her and stoped inches in front of her's. He hurried out of his car and up to the driver's side door. He yanked it open and then got down on one knee. "Billy what are you doing?" She asked with questions in her eyes. "Shh," was all he said. He pulled a red velvet box out of his pocket and opened it. "Mackenzie, I love you and I don't want to loose you again. Will you please marry me?" He asked. Mac's hand flew to her mouth and tears flowed down her cheeks. She could only shake her head yes because no words could be found. He scooped her out of the car and spun her around. "I love you Mac," he smiled. "I love you too Billy," she replied. "I've never been happier in my entire life!" "The happiest day of my life will be the day you become my wife!" He said before he sat her to the ground and covered her lips with his. She knew that from this moment on they would belong to each other forever! ~The End~ |
