Love & Desire
Part 1

Setting the scene: The homeless shelter. Billy Abbot has just arrived to start volunteering. He walks over to Ned, the man who runs the place.
Billy: (clears his throat) " Excuse me?"
Ned: (Looking up from the paper he is reading) " Yes, can I help you?"
Billy: "Ah, Yeah, I hope so, my name is Billy Abbot and I called yesterday asking if you needed any volunteer help."
Ned: "Oh yes, my name is Ned. I am the one you talked with. I am the one who runs the shelter. (Pauses) I think I have the perfect job for you. You see, unfortunately we have a lot of kids and teens that live here, and they are always looking for somone to talk too. Not to mention all the little projects, like fixing in the walls and ceilings, you know that kind of work."
B: (Smiling slightly) "That sounds great. Ah can you show me around?"
N: (Nodding) " Yeah, sure I could--
Girls voice: "Ned can you come here please?"
N: (Yelling) "Sure, one second.( Looking at Billy) Can you wait here?"
B: "All right, I'll wait."
N: "Great, this shouldn't take much time, but if it does I'll send someone else to help you get familiarized with the shelter."
Ned leaves. He walks down the hall and runs into Mackenzie Reynolds, who is on her way to the storage room.
N: "I am sorry Mac."
Mackenzie (Smiling) "No problem. (In a teasing voice) Just watch where youre going."
N: (Laughing) "OK, miss, next time I will. (Pauses, thinking) Hey could do me a favor?"
M: "Sure what is it?"
N: " We have a new volunteer. Could you show him around?"
M: "Yeah were is he?"
N: (Pointing in the direction that he came from) He's in front"
Girls Voice: "Ned!"
M: (Grinning) "You better go. I'll show this new guy around. No problem."
N: (Smiling) "Thank you."
Ned rushes to see why he is being called, as Mac rushes to the front room.
M: (Grinning and extending her hand to the newcomer) "Hi I my name is Mac. Ned asked me to--(Billy turns around to face Mac, she stops talking.)
B:(Uncomfortably, slightly smiling) " Mac?"
M: (With same slight smile) "Billy?"
Together: "What are you doing here?"
Chapter 2
New Scene: They're still in the front room.
Together:" What do you mean what am I doing here, what are you doing here?"
B: (Frustrated, and slightly amused) "Stop saying the same thing I am."
M: (Very amused) "Why? (Cocking her head slightly to the side) Does it bother you?"
B: (Thinking) She is so cute, no beyond cute, she's so beautiful. (Out loud) "No, it doesn't. Not really."
M: (Smiling) "Oh, well you still didn't answer my question. What are you doing here?"
B: (Matching her smile in spite of himself) "I'm volunteering here, now. Your turn, why are you here?"
M: "I volunteer here, also. I come here after work sometimes to help the kids and do things for Ned."
B: "Oh (Slightly disappointed, not looking at her) I thought, I mean for a second I thought maybe...."
M: (Softly, trying to catch his eyes) "Maybe, what?"
B: (Looking her right in the eye, speaking a little fast)" I thought you might have come because of me. There I said it."
M: (Grinning) "Oh." (Laughing)
B: (Hurt) "What, what's so funny?"
M: (Trying to control her laughter) "I'm sorry. I'm not laughing at you. (Still giggling) It's just I thought the same thing. (Finally controlling her giggles) For a second, I mean."
B: (Grinning) "Really? (Taking her hand, looking deeply into her eyes) I think I'm going like working here."
They look at each other intensely, both smiling holding each other's hands.
Chapter 3
New Scene: Mac's showing Billy around. They're holding hands.
M:" ...and this is the storage room. We have extra over shirts in there just in case they give us messy jobs. (Turning to Billy, giving him her best sexy smile) It's also where we take breaks. You know, when we need to rest or whatever."
B: (Giving her a sexy smile) "Oh, okay. I'll, um, I'll remember that. (Leaning in to whisper in her ear) And I'll be sure to make good use of my breaks."
M: (Shivering slightly) "I just bet you will. (Whispering in his ear as he had hers) I just hope you'll let me know when you take those breaks."
B: (Grinning) "You betcha. You'll be the first one I tell."
They stand there holding hands. Meanwhile, Brock Reynolds is walking toward the storage room, when Ned comes up to him.
N: (Sighing) "Hey Brock. (Smiling) I'm so glad you're here. I have good news and bad news."
Br: (Smiling back) "Well I'm an optimistic man so I'll take the good news then the bad news."
N: "Well the good news is we have a new volunteer."
Br: "Oh, Ned that's great. We can use all the help we can get. What's the bad news?"
N: "The bad news is that the sink's leaking again. You know the one you fixed in December."
Br: "Oh, yeah. (Pausing) So is that it? (Ned nods) Well that's not too bad, I'll fix it right away. (Grinning) So tell me about this new helper we have, what's his name?"
N: "Billy, um Billy Abbott, I believe that's what he said his name was. I sent Mac to help him get used to the shelter."
Br: (Smile disappearing) "Billy Abbott? You sent Mac in with him?"
N: (Confused) "Yeah. Why? Is there something wrong Brock?
Br: (Forcing a smile) No, nothing. Nothing's wrong. Where did you say they were? I want to welcome Billy to the shelter.
N: (Relieved) I don't know exactly. Maybe they're still in the front?
Br: Thanks.
Brock rushes off to the front of the shelter and Ned heads back into the kitchen to move everything out the way so Brock can work on the sink. Mac and Billy still haven't left the storage room.
M: (Grinning) I'm really glad you're helping out here. (Her smile dropping slightly) But, what about Brat- I mean Brittany?
B: (Amused, fakes being stupid) Brittany? Who's that?
M: (Grinning again) Good answer. Very good answer.
(She leans in to kiss him on the cheek when he moves his face slightly so that her kiss lands on his lips. The kiss deepens slightly, as Brock watches from the door.)
Chapter 4
Next Scene: Billy and Mac are still kissing while Brock is standing in the doorway. He moves just outside the door so he can hear their conversation.
M: (Pulling away, breathless)" Um, (Laughs) we should probably get to work."
B: (Holding her tighter) "Aww, do we have to?"
M: "Yes. (Whispering) If you want to take (Winking) that break we were talking about."
B: "Oh, well when you put it that way. What are we waiting for, come on hop on it."
M: (Laughing) "Yes, sir."
~(Brock shakes his head frowning, and then walks in.)~Br: "Mac, there you are. I was looking---(Billy turns around, Brock forces a smile) Hello Billy. What are you doing here?"
B: "I volunteer here now. My dad thought it would be a good way to occupy my time while I'm grounded. (Looks at Mac quickly, who is looking at him) And I have to say that I think he was right."
Br: "Uh-huh. Well welcome, I'm glad you decided to take your father's advice. I'm sure we can keep you real busy."
M: "Um, Dad, Billy will be working with me. You know with the kids and teens. Ned thought it would be a good idea. I think so, too."
Br: (Thinking) No, Mac I don't. But for now...(Out loud)" sure, yeah, that would be great".
(They are all silent until Mac breaks it)
M: "Uh, Dad was there something you wanted me to do?"
Br: "No, no I just wanted to make sure you got here all right. "
M: "Oh. Okay. (Turning to Billy) Um, Billy we should go find Ned and see what he has in store for us." (She grins.)
B: (Grinning back) "Yeah, we should. Bye, Mr. Reynolds."
M: "Bye, Dad."
Br: "Bye, you two."
(They leave to find Ned making sure they don't touch each other. While Brock stands there looking after them.)
Br: (Thinking) Great. Duchess what are we going to do now? Mac is even more into Billy than we originally thought. Poor Raul. How will he take the news? (Out loud) "Should I get involved? No, I have to let Mac work this out if I want to keep my daughter."
(Across town at Crimson Lights...Brittany sits at a booth with JT and his friend Brandon.)
Brittany: "So, guys what are you planning to do this weekend?"
JT: "Well I can tell you it won't be hanging around the Abbott's watching "The Wizard Of Oz" with Raul, Mac, and Billy. Loser crew."
Brandon: "Yeah, Brit, admit it Billy is a dork and those friends of his. Well they are about as exciting as watching paint dry."
Brit: "I know. But I'm not worried as soon as I get Mr. and Mrs. Abbott to realize that I'm a good and innocent girl...(JT and Brandon snicker) Okay so it's not true. But they don't have to know that. Besides I know exactly how to get rid of Raul and Mac."
JT: (Grinning) "How?"
Brit: (Smiling) "That's for me to know and you to find out. (She grabs her purse) Bye." boys. (She leaves the restaurant.)
Chapter 5
Scene: At the Shelter. Billy and Mac are cleaning up after dinner. Brock has fixed the sink.
M: (Pointing at the dish next to Billy)" Hand me that please."
B: "Okay. "(Grabs the dish and turns to Mac) Here--(The dish with ketchup and leftover food on it gets slapped into Mac's chest.)
M: (Shocked) "Oh."
B: (Laughing) "I'm sorry Mac. (He takes the plate to a near by counter and grabs a napkin.) I'm really sorry, I..."(When turns to face Mac, she has the hose from the sink pointed right at him.) "You wouldn't dare."
M: (Faked innocence) "Oh, wouldn't I? Why wouldn't I do it?"
B: (Moving to the side of her slowly) "Because you're nice, sweet, and forgiving person. And of course, you also realize the food on your shirt was an accident."
M: (Thinks for a second) "Yeah, you're right, I am."
(Billy breathes a sigh of relief. Mac sprays him with the water.) "Just not today." (Laughing)
(Billy makes a grab for the hose. He gets it and chases Mac with it soaking her so much as she did him.)
B: (Laughing) "Say Uncle."
M: (Grabs a glass of apple juice and tosses the juice at him. Hitting him in the face with it, Laughing)
B: (Puts the hose down and grabs her by the waist) "That's it now you're gonna pay." (He tickles her side until she has tears of laughter running down her cheeks.)
M: (Laughing and crying)" Stop tickling me!"
B: (Grinning)" Say Uncle."
M: "Uncle!"
B: (Stops tickling her)" "Good. Although having my arm around you wasn't that horrible a
situation."
M: (Face red from laughing so hard, looks around the kitchen at the mess they made) "Great now look at what you did."
B: (Shocked) "At what I did?"
M: (Trying to keep a straight face) "Yeah~you~started it."
B: ~"Me?~"
M: (Bursting out laughing) "Gotcha! (Walks over to the counter and grabs a towel and throws it at him) We better clean this up before Ned comes back and reads us the riot act."
(Together they clean up the mess.)
Across town at the Hodges home, Brittany is on the phone with Rianna.
Brit: "...so that's the plan. If everything goes the way I hope that annoying girl and her puppy will be out of the way."
Rianna: "Brit, are you sure about that. Billy really likes Mac and Raul; he might take their side."
Brit: "Not after he hears what I have to tell him. Besides he's male and he wants me. That's all that really matters. Mac and Raul don't stand a chance".
Rianna: Whatever.
Brit: Yeah, enough about those losers. How are you doing without JT?
