A year and nine months later Mac lay in bed thinking about her life. Billy was now fully involved in his father's company, and learning all he needed to know from Jack. Billy enjoyed his job so much and never complained about it. Mac was now nine months pregnant and they were anxiously waiting the arrival of their first child any day now. Mac still worked at the coffeehouse, well she did when she wasn't as big as a house. But Rianna had taken over her job and she was now a sub. Raul and Rianna had gotten married six months after Billy and mac were and were very happy in there new home. Raul was going to community college, but Jabot was paying for it because as soon as he finished his degree  they wanted to hire him as there head website designer. Rianna was also one month pregnant and all ready glowing. Life was good, but it would be better when Mac had the baby. Mac groaned as she climbed, rolled, out of bed. She hadn't seen her feet in six months and she was always bumping into things. She waddled down the stairs and into the kitchen. She grabbed a banana and then headed into the living room to rest. These days so much wore her out. Just after she had sat down on the couch there was a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" She called.
"Mac, it's me Rianna!" Called Rianna.
"Go ahead and come in," she called. Rianna opened the door and just smiled.
"Poor Mac, can't you get up?" She asked.
"Oh shut up," said Mac.
Rianna sat down next to her and asked, "How are you feeling?"
"Not good, but not terrible," she replied. "I'm ready to have this child!"
"I know you are, but it should be soon," said Rianna. "I'm going to go get a glass of water okay!"
"Sure I'll just stay here," laughed Mac. Rianna walked into the kitchen and then heard Mac scream. She came rushing back into the room to find Mac holding her stomach.
"Oh God Mac, what's wrong?" Cried Rianna.
"I think it's time," cried Mac. "Call the main house and let Mamie know, she'll call everyone else!" Rianna dialed the number and told Mamie what was going on and then she helped Mac out to the car. They drove to the hospital and right to the emergency room. They admitted Mac right away and they told her all she could do was wait.
"I'm gonna go page Raul," said Rianna as she hurried out of the room. Just then Billy came running into the room.
"Billy, oh my God, it's almost time," she cried.
"Oh honey, it's going to be okay," he said soothingly as he took her hand. Just then another contraction came and she squeezed his hand.
"This is all your fault," she cried. "You're never coming near me again!"
"Oh Mac, you're doing just fine," he replied, knowning she didn't really mean it. They had been trying to have kids for a year when she finally got pregnant. She could hardly stand it when she told him. Since then he'd tried everything he could to make her comfortable. She let out another cry and his heart broke to see her in pain. They didn't know if they were having a boy or a girl, all they knew was that it was healthy. Raul and Rianna entered the room just as Mac screamed again.
"I think I've changed my mind," said Rianna.
"Oh you'll be fine," said Raul as he walked over to Mac. "How's it going Mac?" He asked as he took her other hand.
"How does it look?" She asked through clenched teeth. When another pain came she squeezed both their hands hard and made them cry out in pain too. "I hate you Billy Abbott, I swear I do," she said. "This is all your fault!" Rianna kissed Mac's cheek and then she and Raul headed back to the waiting room. Kay and Brock came in next.
"How's my girl?" He asked.
"Daddy, kill Billy," she cried.
"Oh honey," he said. "You don't mean that!" Kay walked up next to the bed and brushed her hair out of her face.
"We're figther's Mackenzie, and I know you can handle this, you're a tough girl!" They gave her a few more encouraging words and then left when Jill appeared.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" Billy asked.
"I've come to see you two," she said. Jill hadn't been around much since the wedding. For some reason she still didn't like Mac. Jill had taken it upon herself to travel for Jabot, so she was never home. "I wouldn't miss the birth of my first grandchild for anything." Mac let out another cry and had tears in her eyes.
"Billy it hurts, make it stop," she cried. He kissed her forehead and then squeezed her hand.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Abbott, but you'll have to leave, it's time for Mac to start pushing," said the doctor as he entered the room. "Okay Mac, when I tell you to push you push," he said. After two hours Mac finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy. When he let out his first cry Mac cried too. Just then the doctor said, "Were you two expecting twins?"
"No doctor, why?" Asked Billy.
"Because there's another baby coming," he replied. Mac pushed again and then gave birth to a baby girl. Both babies' were healthy and were taken out of the room to be cleaned up. Both the doctor and Billy turned to Mac with smiles, but those smiles soon faded. "Son, you'll have to leave," said the doctor as he looked at her vital signs. "She's fading fast!" Billy let out a cry and reached for Mac, but two nurses drug him out of the room. Everyone rushed towards him asking what was wrong.
"I don't know," he said. "She was doing fine and then after she had the twin, things turned bad!"
"Did you say twins," asked Kay.
"Yes, a boy and a girl," replied Billy. "Oh God, what am I going to do," he asked aloud. "I can't loose her!"
"Don't worry son, everything will be fine," said John as he placed a reassuring hand on Billy's shoulder. "These are the best doctors in the area, they'll do everything in their power to save Mackenzie! Just be patient." Tears rolled down Billy's cheeks as he looked at his father. Everyone, but Billy sat down to wait for the news except Billy who paced and prayed to God that Mac would be alright. Hours later the doctor finally appeared.
Billy rushed towards him and asked, "What happened, is she alright?"
"She's lost a lot of blood, but we got her stable," he replied. "She's very weak though! The birth took alot out of her. I'd like to keep her here for a couple of days just to be safe."
"Can I see her?" Asked Billy.
"Sure, come with me," he said. Billy followed the doctor to Mac's room. The moment he entered the room he remembered the last time she was in the hospital, it frightened him. He approached the bed and reached for her hand. When she felt his touch she opened her eyes and smiled up at him.
"Oh Mac," he said. "Why does this always happen to you?" He asked her.
"Was it a boy or a girl?" She asked.
"Both, you had twins," he said with a smile. Her smile widened and she tried to squeeze his hand, but wasn't strong enough.
"Katherine and Jonathan," she whispered.
"That's exactly what I was thinking," he said. "You scared me there for awhile!"
"I scared myself," she replied. He kissed her forehead and then caressed her hand.
"You're going to be alright," he said. She just smiled and drifted off to sleep. A week later Mac and the twins were released from the hospital. Billy had already purchased doubles of most of the baby supplies, so Mac could fully care for both children when she arrived home. Kay and John were thrilled to have their grandchildren named after them. Jill however wasn't, but what could she say. She had seen and held the children once in the hospital and then left for another business trip. No one really cared though. When they arrived home Rianna and Raul were there to welcome them.
"Let me see that God son of mine," said Raul as he took Jonathan from Mac's arms.
"I can already see what it's going to be like when we have our baby," laughed Rianna.
"Oh believe me, I know," said Mac as she pointed to Billy who was holding and cooing to Kate. "Billy hasn't put Katie down for a second!"
"Those two are going to spoil those kids," replied Rianna.
"I'm so glad you and Raul decided to be their god parents," said Mac. "I just hope our kids grow up to be as close as we are!"
"Would that be great," replied Rianna. Suddenly Katie started to fuss and Mac walked over to take her from Billy.
"I can take care of her," he said.
"Honey I know you can, but she's probably hungry," said Mac. He finally gave her to Mac and Mac headed upstairs for some privacy.
"So Raul, do you want a boy or a girl?" Asked Billy.
"Oh I don't really care. I hope to have one of each," he replied as he held Jonathan.
"Oh brother," replied Rianna. "You want two?"
"Sure why not, maybe we'll have twins too," he said with a grin.
She just rolled her eyes and then said, "We'd better let these guys settle in." Reluctantly Raul gave Jonathan to Billy and then left with Rianna. "Tell Mac I'll come by tomorrow after my shift at the coffeehouse," said Rianna before she left.
"Sure," replied Billy. He watched them drive away and then headed back in the house to put Jonathan to bed. He walked into the baby's room to find Mac feeding Katie and it was the most wonderful sight he'd ever seen. She didn't notice him enter the room, so he just stood there in the doorway. She finally glanced up and smiled at him.
"Hey," she said. He walked over and kissed her forehead and then handed Jonathan over and took Katie.
"I can't believe we have kids," he said. "We're barely kids ourselves!"
"I know it's mind blowing, but we'll do just fine," she replied.
"I wasn't implying that we wouldn't, it's just weird to have a child that affects your life everyday now," he said. He began to sing a little song to Katie and Mac just smiled as she rocked Jonathan to sleep.
"I can see it now, she's going to be daddy's little girl," she laughed.
"So, I can't wait to buy her everything she wants, and the minute any boy comes around, I'll shoot him," he said.
"Oh Billy, we have years before that happens," replied Mac.
"I know, I'm just saying that I used to be sixteen and I know what goes through a sixteen years old head." He laid Katie into her crib as Mac stood up to put Jonathan in his.
"I have a feeling that those same things still go through your head," she said.
He came up behind her and whispered, "You know something, you're right!" He kissed the back of her neck and then took her hand and led her out of the room, closing the door behind him.
Several weeks later Billy came home from work to find the house a disaster and Mac crying on the floor as she held the babies.
"What's the matter Mac?" Billy asked as he knelt down next to her.
"I can't do this, I am a horrible mother," she cried. "If ones not crying the other one is, if ones not hungry the other one is, and if ones sleeping the other one isn't. I can't handle this!"
"Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry. I know I haven't been much help lately," he said as he rubbed her back. He took Kate from her and then sat down next to her. "Why don't you let me take care of the kids while you go take a nap?"
"Are you saying I am not capable of taking care of our children, not capable of settling them down?" she cried as she stood up.
"Honey that's not what I am saying at all," he said as he stood. "It just looks like you could use a nap."
"Oh so now not only do you not think I can't take care of our children, but you think I look terrible," she cried.
"Honey settle down," he said soothingly. "The doctor said you'd be moody for awhile but I didn't know it would be this bad!" That was the last straw. Mac turbed on her heels with Jonthan and stormed upstairs and slammed the bedroom door. Billy just stood there with his mouth open staring at the now empty stairway. He layed the now quiet Katie in her bassinet and then headed int othe kitchen to make some coffee and get something to eat. He could hear Mac slamming things around upstairs and decided it was best to let her blow off some steam. Later after things had settled down upstairs, Billy put Katie in her crib and went to check on Jonathan who was in his. He quietly walked down the hallway and tapped on their bedroom door. When no one answered he entered to find Mac asleep in their bed. He walked over and covered her with a blanket and then went to the bathroom to get ready for bed himself. Then he climbed into the bed beside her and Mac automatically moved into his arms. He kissed the top of her head and then he drifted off to sleep holding her tight.
The next morning Billy woke to the sound of his alarm going off and to find Mac gone. He dressed for work and headed downstairs. Mac was in the kitchen cooking breakfast and she smiled when he walked in and sat down at the table. "The newspaper should be there on the table and I'll have ytour breakfast ready in a second," she said.
"What are you making?" he asked with interest.
"Oh eggs, bacon, and hash browns," she replied as she set the plate in front of him.
"Mm my favorite," he said gratefully. She sat down next to him and kissed him on the cheek. "Feeling better this morning?" he asked.
"Yes thank you, I don't know what came over me." she replied. "I am so sorry for what I said to you last night! Do you forgive me?"
"How could I not," he said kissing her. "I know that things are stressful for you, but I also know that things will get better."
"Yes, I know they will too," she replied. He finished his breakfast and then stood to leave. Mac walk him out to his car in her silk black robe and kissed him goodbye. "I'll see you tonight," she said.
"Oh I am looking forward to it," he replied. He hugged her again and whispered in her ear, "Did I ever tell you how sexy you look in that robe?" She laughed and then kissed him again.
"You don't want to be late," she said stepping back. He climbed into his car and drove away. Mac entered the house and was about to step into the shower when the babies started crying again. "Looks like this will have to wait," she groaned as she put the robe back on and headed down the hall.
The next five months flew by fast and soon the twins would be six months old. Both Billy and Mac had adjusted to being parents and enjoyed it very much. Rianna was now six months pregnant and was beginning to look like a house. She had stopped working at the coffeehouse for the time being, and spent most of her time with Mac. Things were so much eiser with an extra set of hands. Billy tried to work from home as much as possible, but his job still required him to be in the office most days. Billy arrived home one evening to find Mac asleep on the couch with the kids. He tried to shut the door quietly but Foster, their dog barked and woke Mac up.
"Hush," hissed Billy. "Sorry I tried," he whispered.
"That's okay," she said as she stood up and walked over to hug him. "How was your day?" she asked.
"Hectic," he replied after he kissed her.
"Look, could you watch the kids while I run to the store?" she asked. "We need milk, and Rianna wasn't around today so I couldn't go  get some."
"Sure honey I can handle things," he said.
"Great I won't be long," she said as she grabbed her purse and keys. As soon as Mac's car pulled away Billy called the main house.
"Hi Mamie, its Billy. Could I ask a favor from you?  Great," he said with a smile.
Mac walked into the house to find candles lit and soft music playing, she listened to the words and melted.

Say its true
There's nothin like me and you
I am not alone
Tell me you feel it too
I would run away

I would run away yeah
I would run away
I would run away
I would run away...
With you

Cause I am fallen in love
Fallen in love with you
No, I am never
I am never going to stop fallen in love with you
With you

And I will run away
I would run away yeah yeah
I would run away with you

Cause I've fallen in love with you
Fallen in love with you
No I am never
I am never going to stop fallen in love with you
Fallen in love
Fallen in love with you
With you....
With you....
With you

The song just kept playing over and over again and it brought tears to Mac's eyes. "Billy?  she called where are you?  Suddenly he walked down the stairs and scooped her up in his arms. "Where are the kids?" she asked.
"Shhh they're with Mamie for the night," he whispered. "Tonight is all ours!" She smiled down at him then kissed him passionately. "I have many surprises for you my love," he said. She just smiled down at him and kissed him again.
Billy set her down and led her upstairs he led her into their bathroom to find the bathtub full of bubbles, candles everywhere, and the same soft music playing. Slowly Billy began to undress her then helped her into the tub. "You relax while I go finish dinner," he said as he walked out the door. She just stared at the empty doorway in disbelief. About a half an hour later Billy reappeared to help her out of the tub. She dried off then wrapped her black robe around her. They walked down the stairs together and into the living room. The living room table was set and the food looked delcious. Billy helped her sit down on the floor and then sat down across from her. She looked down at her plate to find grilled salmon, rice, and asparagus. "Mm this looks delcious," she said.
"Thanks," he replied.
"Did you make it yourself?" she teased.
"Of course I did! " he said looking a little offended.  They ate their dinner and sent long looks across the table. After they finished dinner Billy stood and cleared the table then he turned on the stero and extended his hand to Mac. She accepted it and was still amazed after all these years how perfectly her hand fit in his. He put her arms around his neck then ran his  fingers down her arms. The soft tickle of his finger tips sent shivers down her spine. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. They swayed together their hearts beginning to beat as one. Their eyes met and Billy pressed his lips to Mac's. When they broke apart Billy pulled a small box out of his pocket. Mac opened it and her eyes filled with tears inside the soft black velvet box was a silver band. She picked it up and looked inside. The inscribtion read "Billy Loves Mac Forever"
"Oh Billy!" Mac cried. Throwing herself into his arms.
He hugged her tight then kissed her lips and said, "I am glad you like it" he whispered into her ear.
"I love it!" she said.
"Good,"  he replied. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him again. He lifted her into his arms and carried her up the stairs. Several hours later Mac layed wrapped in Billy's arms. He leaned over and placed several soft kisses down her neck. "I love you," he said.
"I love you too," she replied. "You make me so happy."
"You make me happy too. There's no one I'd rather be with right now," he said. She rolled over to face him and ran her fingers down his cheek.
"Thank you for tonight," she said as she looked at the ring on her finger.
"Your welcome it was my pleasure," he said kissing her. Mac snuggled close and drifted off to sleep dreaming of Billy.
The next morning Billy woke with Mac still in his arms. She suggled closer as he tried to get out of bed. He squeezed her softly  and placed a kiss on the top of her head before climbing out of their warm bed and heading to the bathroom to get ready for work. Mac was still sleeping when he walked out of the bathroom so he went to check on the twins and then headed to work. Mac woke an hour later to the sound of Jonathan's crying and scrabbled out of bed. She put on her robe and headed down the hall. Just as she got him quieted down the phone rang.
She answered it "Hello?"
"Hey Mac, its me Rianna. "
"Hi are you coming over today?" Mac asked.
"Yeah I am leaving right now," she replied.
"Okay I'll see you in a few minutes," Mac said before she hung up the phone. Katie began to cry so Mac took both babies downstairs into the kitchen to fix there bottles and some coffee. After she feed the twins their bottles and drank a cup of coffee the doorbell rang. She walked into the living room and placed the twins in their play pen. "Hey that was fast!" She stood in the doorway looking into the eyes of her....
"Mother!" Mac gasped. "What are you doing here?" Amanda stood in front of her in gray slacks and a black blouse. Her hair was still dark brown but there was gray streaks in it and she had it pulled back into a bun. Her eyes were still cold, and her additude had more of a condesending feel to it then she remembered, but other then that her mother hadn't changed much since the last time she's seen her six years before.
"Hello to you to Mackenzie," Amanda replied.
"I asked you a question mother?" Mac said as she stood blocking the doorway.
"I am here to see you of course," she replied. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" Mac moved aside and allowed her mother to enter. "I spoke to your mother-in-law a few days ago and she informed me of your marriage and the birth of my two grandchildren. I was very surprised and upset at the same time. You should have been the one to share the joyous news with me Mackenzie," Amanda said.
"So your here to stake your claim is that it?" Mac asked.
"Where are the twins by the way?" Amanda asked ignoring the question.
"They're over in their play pin sleeping," Mac replied. Amanda walked over to peer down at them.
"Aren't they darling? What are their names?" she asked.
"Kathleen and Jonathan," Mac replied. "After grandma and Billy's father."
"Oh yes, how is your grandmother?" Amanda asked politely.
"Fine," was all Mac said as he picked up Katie.
"Well you've done quite well for yourself Mackenzie, much better then I would have thought you would. You've turned into a lovely young woman, believe me," Amanda said.
"Yes, Billy provides quite well for the children and I. He loves us very much," Mac replied.
"I am sure he does," Amanda said not interested in the least. "I assume he's at work?"
"Yes he is, he won't be back til later," replied Mac. Just then the doorbell rang.
"Hi Mac," Rianna said as she waddled into the living room. She stopped and looked at Amanda in surprise.
" Rianna this is my mother, Amanda. This is my closet friend Rianna," intoduced Mac.
"Its nice to meet you," Rianna replied. Amanda gave a slight smile.
"Well mother, I have things to do if you'll excuse me," Mac said.
"Yes of course, I should be going." she replied. She followed Mac to the door. "I'll stop by and meet your husband later."
"Sure," Mac replied  before she shut the door.
When she turned to face Rianna, Rianna asked, "What's she doing in town?"
"I am not sure, but we'll find out soon enough," Mac replied.
Mac headed upstairs to shower and left Rianna to watch the twins. After she showered she dressed in jeans and an olive green tank top. She was planning on cleaning the house today, so she pinned her hair up on top of her head to keep it out of the way.  She headed back downstairs and found Rianna talking to Jonathan. "Two months left," Mac smiled.
"I know Raul and I can hardly wait!" Rianna replied.
"You and Raul will make great parents." Mac said.
"I hope so," Rianna replied.
"By the way how is Raul? I haven't seen him in awhle. We really should have the two of you over for dinner more often!" Mac said.
"With Raul in school and Billy working late hours at work, its hard for us to get together, but you're right we should make more of an effort." Rianna said. "So what are you up to today?" she asked.
"Cleaning house," Mac replied.
"I'll watch the twins," Rianna offered.
"I was hoping you'd say that," Mac laughted as she pulled out the vacumn.
Mac was sitting on the back patio drinking a glass of wine watching the sunset when Billy arrived home from work. He walked outside in a pair of kaki pants and a dark polo shirt. He came up behind her and kissed her on the head.
"Where are the kids?" he asked.
"Upstairs sleeping," she replied obviously distracted.
"What's wrong?"  He asked sitting down in the chair next to her.
"My mother is in town," she replied flatly.
"What's she doing here after all these years?" he asked.
"Jill," she answered.
"I should have known," he replied. Just then the doorbell rang.
"That must be her," she said. Billy stood and took her hand as they headed into the house to answer the door. Mac allowed Billy to answer the door and she stood behind him. "Hello mother," Mac said as Amanda entered the the room.
"You must be Billy Abbott," she said as she extended her hand.
"Hello Mrs. Browning," Billy said.
"Please call me Amanda, Billy."
"Please have a seat," he said as he and and Mac sat down on the couch. Once she sat down an uncomfortable silence enveloped the room.
Finally Mac said, "What do you want mother, there has to be something?"
"I am here to mend the relationship between us Mackenzie," she said.
"There is no relationship to mend," Mac frowned.
"I am sorry you feel that way dear," she replied. "But I feel differently."
"That's your problem!" Mac replied. She held tightly to Billy's hand and glared at Amanda. "You've caused me enough pain, and I won't allow it anymore!"
"I guess I was wrong when I thought you had matured Mackenzie. I see now that your still stubborn and ill mannered as always."
"I am sorry Mrs Browning, Amanda, but I won't have you speaking to my wife like this!" interrupted Billy.
"I am sorry dear. I just wanted to discuss this with you rationally," Amanda said.
"Just leave mother, there's nothing more to discuss!" Mac said tears filling her eyes.
Amanda stood and said, "I'll be in town for awhile. Here's the name of the hotel were I am staying at." She handed Billy a card with a phone number on it, then followed Billy to the door. When the door was shut she said aloud, "You will forgive me Mackenzie!"
Billy walked over to Mac and sat down next to her and said, "Are you all right?"
"Yeah I'll be fine. Why can't she just leave well enough alone?" Mac asked.
"I really think she was being serious about wanting to become closer," Billy said.
"I don't want to talk about this right now," Mac replied. She leaned down and kissed Billy. "There are more interesting things to do," she smiled. Billy lifted his hand to her hair and ran his fingers through it, sending pins everywhere. She stood up and took his hand, pulling him with her. He laughed as she led him to the stairs.
It was two weeks before Mac heard from her mother again. The doorbell rang while she was pouring a glass of orange juice. "Who could that be?" She wondered aloud. She went to answer the door and said, "What do you want now?" When she saw who it was.
"I told you we weren't done discussing this," said Amanda as she walked through the door.
"And I told you," she said.
"I know, there's nothing else to discuss, but I told you I disagree," said Amanda. "Why are you so against me?"
"Mother, look at what you put me through. It was so bad that I ran away," cried Mac. "Then Jill told me she spoke to you and you didn't want me around anymore!"
"Things were difficult at home dear and I didn't want you in the middle of it," replied Amanda. "Now things are better. Your stepfather and I have divorced and I've started to fix my life. I thought the best place to start would be with you!"
"But I don't want you in my life!" Snapped Mac.
"Well I'm going to be, I've decided to move here. I've already rented a condo and my stuff is on it's way," she replied.
"What?" Gasped Mac. "No you're not!"
"I don't mean we have to be best friends right away, but let's spend some time together, get to know one another again," said Amanda. "I should really be going, but please promise me you'll think about it!"
"I won't promise you anything," replied Mac as she opened the door.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, but know this Mackenzie, I won't give up," said Amanda and then she turned and walked down the steps to her car.
"Gurr," screamed Mac as she slammed the door. "Why does she do this to me?" Just then the babies began to cry and she dashed up the stairs, forgetting about Amanda!
Several days went by before Mac heard from Amanda again. She was over visiting her father and Kay with the twins when the doorbell rang. Brock took Jonathan with him to answer the door and gasped at the sight of Amanda.
"Well, hello Brock," she said with a smile. "You haven't changed a bit!" She brushed past him before he could say a word and entered the living room to find Kay talking with Mac while she held Katie.
"Mother," gasped Mac.
"Hello dear," she said. "Katherine."
"Hello Amanda," said Kay with a frown. "What brings you here?"
"I came to see if my daughter was here," replied Amanda.
"What do you want now?" asked Mac.
"Darling, we've discussed this," replied Amanda.
"And I told you, I don't want you in my life," stated Mac.
"But Mackenzie," she pleaded.
"No mother, now if you'll excuse me the twins need to have their nap and I have dinner to start," said Mac as she stood and took Katie from Kay. She strapped the twins in their car seats and then had Brock carry them to the car. "Grandma, I'll stop by tomorrow and we'll continue our visit," said Mac before she followed Brock out to the car.
"Of course darling, I look forward to it," replied Kay. Mac hugged her father and then climbed into the car drove down the driveway leaving Amanda on the steps.
"Well that went well," said Amanda.
"What are you doing in town?" asked Kay.
"Trying to mend things with Mackenzie of course," she replied.
"Well it's obvious she's not accepting the idea," said Brock. "Maybe you should give up!"
"Never," she said and then hurried down the steps and to her car.
As they watched her disappear through the gates Brock said, "Mac does not need this now!"
"I know," replied Kay. They both frowned and shook their heads as they headed back into the house and closed the door.
A month later Mac walked down the stairs with a brilliant smile on her face. She had great news to share with Billy and he would be home any moment. She walked into the kitchen and checked on dinner in the stove and then heard Billy enter through the front door. Her smile grew as she heard him approach and he stopped in his tracks when he saw the smile.
"Hello Sunshine! What's got you in such a good mood?" he asked.
"Guess," she replied as she removed the chicken from the stove.
"Um let's see," he said. "The twins learned to walk?"
"No silly," she replied.
"Ah my mother called to apologize for all the trouble she cause you," he said.
"I wish," she laughed. "Come on one more guess!"
"Okay, ah you're father's getting married," he guessed. She just laughed and then suddenly turned serious. "What, what is it?" he asked.
"Okay, I can't wait anymore," she said. "You should probably sit down!"
"Oh no, what's wrong?" he asked. "Is it your mother?"
"No, remember it's good news," she reminded him.
"Okay tell me," he said as he sat down in a chair.
"Okay here it goes," she said. "Ready?"
"Yes, tell me," he said. "You're driving me crazy!"
She broke into a smile and said, "We're going to have another baby!" Billy stared at her in total shock and when he said nothing Mac became worried. "Aren't you happy?" she asked.
"Are you kidding me? I'm overjoyed!" He replied as he jumped up and swung her around in his arms. "I had no idea!"
"Well, I didn't want to say anything until I was sure, but the test results came back positive," she said.
"This is great," he laughed. "We've got to tell the family!"
"What about dinner?" she asked.
"Forget dinner," he cried. "Where are the twins?" he asked.
"Sleeping," she replied.
"We'll have Mamie come down and watch them," he said as he pulled her towards the door. They nearly ran the short distance to the main house and everyone was sitting down at the dinner table when they walked in.
"What on earth?" asked John when he saw their smiles.
"Everyone, we've got great news," said Billy.
"What is it son?" asked John.
"You're going to be a grandpa again dad," replied Billy. Everyone smiled and laughed.
"Oh Mac," said Ashley. "I'm so happy for you both!"
"Thanks," replied Mac with a grin.
"Way to go little brother," laughed Jack. "It doesn't take you long, does it?" Billy hugged him and blushed.
"Son, what am I going to do with you?" asked John with a smile. "I thought two would be enough, but I'm so happy for you both!"
"Thanks dad," said Billy. "I knew you'd be glad!"
Mamie walked in and asked, "What's all the commotion?" And when they told her she was thrilled and more than happy to go down and stay with the twins while they went to tell Kay and Brock. They said their goodbyes and then hurried back to the house and climbed in the car. Mac could hardly wait to tell her father and Kay!
