Summary: The Kang War continues! As the Avengers battle to maintain control, Kang reflects on the origin og his son, Marcus AKA The Scarlet Centurion! He recounts how he selected the perfect genetic mate and once she had conceived his child, he sent her to the recent past where Marcus was born. There, under Kang's occassional supervision, he was raised to be the perfect heir to Kang the Conqueror!
Meanwhile, the Avengers take a much need respite from the battle to gather their forces and recuperate. As the Wasp, Cap, Thor and Firebird strategize with the military, the remaining Avengers find a moment for some much needed downtime. Warbird and the Vision have formulated a plan to seek some answers, at long last, about the mysterious Trinue Understanding. They are upfront with their plans and share them with Triathlon and Jack of Hearts. Their plan: send an Avenger in to the Triune to keep tabs on the group and uncover the true plans of the cult-like religion and its ominous leader! At first, Triathlon is uncomfortable with the whole idea, but Carol explains that this is the only way to find answers to all the weirdness and secrecy around the Triunes...including the details of Triathlon's own origin! She makes it clear that she hopes, for his sake, that she's wrong about the Triune. But if she's right, lives could be at stake!
After plans to send the Vision in to investigate have been settled, the four Avengers head out on the town! Little do they realize that a new player has entered the Kang War... the mysterious Master of the World!
Comments: This issue furthers the developing friendship between Carol and Triathlon as well as her more trusting and collaborative friendship with the Vision. It also highlights Carol's unique way of looking at things...from the point of view of a trained and skilled Intelligence Officer but tempered by her heroism and loyalty to her friends!
