WHAT IS 'BIRDCLICK'?

BirdClick is a Clicker Training list for people who work with pet
birds. Clicker Training is a method that has been used by
professionals for decades and has been kept largely 'secret'
from the general public until just recently. This is a great
place to get answers to your specific questions about taming
and training birds.

The BirdClick list and the Member's Website have been created
in response to a lack of detailed information regarding the
training and behavior of pet birds. Members include bird owners,
parrot behaviorists, avian rescue persons and professional
trainers. It is our hope that through this effort, we can continue
our education and enjoyment of our own companion birds while
helping others come to understand and interact with their avian
friends at a level much higher than they had previously imagined.

We discuss the principles and practical application of how birds
learn. We learn to train our birds by playing a series of fun
little games with them. The birds LOVE IT!!! We do not promote
the use of domination or punishment with birds, as it's not
needed to change your birds behavior. Using only kind and gentle
means, we quickly modify problem behaviors (such as screaming
and biting), teach husbandry behaviors, and even teach fun tricks.
Clicker training will give you a broad-based knowledge that will
enable you to approach training with confidence, skill and
success.

Why use clicker training rather than the 'traditional' approach?
