I know when I first got interested in Weiß, I didn't know a thing. It took me forever to find out where to buy it, how it all started, and where to find other useful WK information, so I'm starting this FAQ to answer some questions for new fans (whom we all were at one time or another!) ^_^ If you're an older WK fan, if you'd take the time to check this information and correct anything that I may have wrong, submit your own useful information, or answer my questions, it'd be appreciated! Please send all comments, questions, and info. to Omi_chan@weisskreuz.net
Q: How do I make a "ß"?
This is useful
to know when writing fics or making websites, and especially when looking
for WK stuff on a search engine. Just hold down the "Alt" key and
then type (in order) 225 on the 9-digit square number pad on your keyboard.
If this doesn't work, make sure that the "Num-lock" key is on and try again.
The "ß"
symbol is the German way of writing "ss" so writing Weiß as "Weiss"
is technically correct.
Q: Where can I get Weiß Kruez?
It's sadly not available in the U.S. and you have to buy it fansubbed (this is where anime fans buy the anime in Japanese, subtitle it themselves, and distibute the tapes to fans in other countries). Check my links page or http://www.anipike.com for fansub distributers.
Q: How do you pronounce those crazy
names?
Weiß Kreuz = "vais kroyts"
Schwarz = Shvarts
Schuldich (AKA Schuldip, Schuldig, Schulderich) = Shool-dik (The first "c" is not prounounced! It is not "skull-dik"!!)
Tsukiyono (Omi's last name) = Skee-yo-no (the "u" is not pronounced)
Q: What do the team names mean?
"Weiß" means "white" in German
"Schwarz" means "black"
"Weiß Kreuz" means "White Cross"
"Schreient" means
"Screaming"
Q: Where can I rant about Weiß Kreuz with fellow fans?
I highly recommend
joining the WK Yaoi or WK Fanfic mailing list on E-groups at http://www.onelist.com
It's a great way to discuss your favorite characters and share fanart and
fanfics totally free.
I also recommend
checking the Weiß Kreuz Webring and Anipike for other WK fan pages
Q: Can I link to your site?
Please do; it's a free-link site! ^_^ You don't have to tell me first if you decide to do so, but I'd appreciate it. Make sure to use the cool banners!
Q: Can I post fanart, fanfics, and pictures from your page on my own page?
You must ask
first!!!!!!! Fanart and fics are the property of the hard-working
artists who produced them and I have always obtained permission first.
Ask the person who wrote/drew them and they'll probably let you.
As for the pictures
on my site, I've spent a long time and put a lot of work into scanning
my own pictures and capturing my own images to make a site that's different
from all the rest. If you see a pic or two you *must have*, just
ask first. If I find that you've taken pics without permission, I'll
bring about the wrath of God or something equally nasty. (Just don't
do it, please)
As always, any
of these images or files you want to grab just for your own personal use
on your own computer are free for the taking!
Q: How did Weiß get started?
Weiß was originally a radio drama show, actually. It was created by Takehito Koyasu who is the voice actor for Aya. Following that, it was made into a 2-volume manga (a link for where to buy it at a reasonable price is supplied on my links page) called "Weiß-- An Assassin and White Shaman". Later it became the anime series and OVA most people are familiar with: "Weiß Kreuz".
Q: What do all those weird German names of the girls in Shreient mean?
Tot: Dead
Hell:
Bright
Neu: New
Shoen:
Beautiful
More to come...
