The incomparable photographer  H e n r i  C a r t i e r - B r e s s o n  is renowned for his ability to capture striking and memorable images of people and places, while working unobtrusively so that his subjects appear natural and unposed. He has described his personal approach to photography as being  " at one and the same time the recognition of a fact in a fraction of a second and the rigorous arrangement of the forms visually perceived which gave the fact expression and significance ".

A m e r i c a   i n  P a s s i n g .   Twelve selected images of his portfolio spanning several decades.Work dating from Cartier-Bresson's country-wide travels in the United States, in 1946-47 reflects postwar overtones of industrial unrest, and in the 1950s and 1960s he went on to record the public manifestations of cold war politics and civil rights protests,and the early days of space exploration.
