A girl walked out onto a large balcony, away from the party that was brewing inside the palace. Her dress was golden with silver trimmings and the fabric was thin (Picture Princess Serenity but with the colors reversed). Her hair was down for once, because of the occasion. It was her 11th birthday, and by her 13th birthday, she would start her training to be queen.
It had been a dismal and boring night. No one had danced with her, and it had already been 2 hours! She leaned against the balcony border, buried her face into her crossed arms and cried silently.
Unknown to the girl, another being was watching her with sad eyes. He started to play a small clarinet/flute instrument. Her head whipped around. It was an elf-like teenager, and he was only a foot taller than her. He had long white hair, and he seemed to be only 11 or 12. His eyes where a sky blue color, with a childish sparkle in them. He played a soft song with the moon shining behind him. She stared at him, entranced by the beautiful song. He closed his eyes and dropped the flute from his lips.
She stared at him until he opened his eyes and looked at her. "I'll be met by moonlight, M'Lady. Why do you cry so?" She listened to his soft voice and felt her ears perk up. She reached up and made sure her hair was covering her annoying pointed ears.
"That depends if I should tell you or not. Who are you?" she asked him. "Just a friend coming to a party. Why do you cry? Certainly a pretty lady such as yourself should have no reason to cry." He told her. She smiled. "Your words are kind, sir. I shall tell you. It is my birthday, yet no one wishes to dance with me." She sighed.
The elf-creature played the flute once again and she saw a glint in his eye. He flew up and stopped playing the flute. "Y-y-y-you can fly?!" She exclaimed. "Yes. All faye can fly." He smiled at her. "Faye? Then you are of Avalon, on earth. Why do you bring yourself up here, kind sir?" She asked. "A party is a party fair lady. I love parties. And happy birthday, your highness."He bowed respectfully. She laughed. "Please no regal titles. I get enough from the servants, please just call me Ashley.""As you wish, Miss Ashley." She smiled.
He started to twirl in the air, doing tricks. She smiled, then giggled, and started to laugh, as her tears ran dry, no need to fall. "There. You look much better with a smile than a frown." He floated in front of her. She smiled. "Thank you." She told him.
A soft song drifted out onto the isolated balcony. The Faye bowed. "May I have the honor of thy lady's dance?" He asked. She held out her hand, which he took gently. "Of course, kind sir." She replied. They danced in to the song slowly, just gazing at each other, wondering what was going on inside of them.
"I can feel the magic floating in the air
Being with you gets me that way
I watch the sunlight dance across your face
And I've never been this swept away"
They both moved in closer to each other, and now Ashley was resting her head on the Faye's chest. His arms where both wrapped around the tiny girl, just swaying to the music.
"All my thoughts just seem to settle on the breeze
When im lyin wrapped up in your arms
The whole world just fades away the only thing I hear
Is the beating of your heart"
Ashley was content in this Faye's arms. She didn't even know his name but felt something towards him. She couldn't tell if it was friendship, or love that was brewing inside her.
" And I can feel you breathe
It's washing over me
And suddenly im melting into you
Theres nothing left to prove
And baby all we need is just to be
Caught up in the touch
The slow and steady rush
And baby isn't that the way loves supposed to be
I can feel you breathe
Just breathe"
She felt him twirl her outwards, then back inwards. All she noticed was his warmth when she buried her face back into the soft silks of his shirt.
"In a way I know my heart is waking up
As all the walls come tumbling down
Closer than i've ever felt before
And I know
And you know
Theres no need for words right now"
She looked up and stared into his eyes. They held something there but she couldn't place it. He stared back, and seemed to pull her closer into him, but she didn't notice.
"And I can feel you breathe
It's washing over me
And suddenly im melting into you
Theres nothing left to prove
And baby all we need is just to be
Caught up in the touch
The slow and steady rush
And baby isn't that the way loves supposed to be I can feel you breathe
Just breathe"
He inched closer to her face.
"Caught up in the touch
The slow and steady rush
And baby isn't that the way loves supposed to be
I can feel you breathe
Just breathe
I can feel the magic floating in the air
Being with you gets me that way"
The song ended, and the two had stopped dancing. He kissed her cheek, and handed her a silver rose that seemed to come out of thin air. She blushed and took the rose."May I please get your name, kind sir?" She asked. He looked down at her. "My name is Puck." He replied. She fingered the rose. "Thank you." She told him. "Twas ment for you. Though you overpass its beauty."He said. She smiled. "You are very kind, Puck. You're the only male that has ever treated me as a person. All the others treat me as a princess." She flopped down onto a bench on the balcony.
Puck sat down next to her. "Well technically you are." He stated. She groaned. "Don't remind me. I hate it! I'd rather be out in nature, but im cooped up in the palace until my next birthday. All the other males treat me as if I am an object. A jewel that they can just gaze at, wear, then toss away at anytime. Your'e different, Puck." She smiled at the silver rose."Whoever would treat you as an item you could wear or dispose of should be hanged. You are a very rare jewel, a precious stone. You hold the beauty of a million silver roses and more. Do not pay attention to those males, im sure they wouldn't care if you did." He put a hand on her shoulder.
She blushed at the compliments. "Am I really that pretty?" No one but her mother and the senshi had told her that before, and usually with them, they said it because they had too. This was different. It was a different person. "Yes, and more. You are more beautiful than Queen Titania herself, in my opinion." He smiled and slung his arm over her shoulders. "Your Queen?Your mother, to be exact?" She said. He moaned. "Don't remind me." He said. She giggled. "How could you not like your mother?" She asked. "Believe me, if you knew my mother heart and soul, you wouldn't like her either." He replied flatly.
She stared up at the moon. "My cousin lives up there." She said. Puck looked upward. "Well if you look right past it is my home." He said, pointing to the barely showing earth. "What's it like on Earth?" She asked, unconsciously snuggling into him and placing her head on his chest. He didn't seem to notice the action and just wrapped his arms around her. "Well, Avalon has many waterfalls and fields. Flowers are abundant. The rest of earth is at war, I'm afraid. Avalon is the only safe place now. Yet no one can come in without assistance. No one can perform the spell to get to Avalon unless they posses magic of some kind." Intrigued by all this, Ashley listened wit interest."War?Why is their war on your planet?" She asked softly. Puck sighed. "Apparently this idiot named Beryl is trying to take over. But she will never overthrow Avalon. We are to powerful." He flexed his arms mockingly. She laughed. "Do you think this Beryl person has any intention of coming here?!" She asked, a scared look on her face. They both knew Cometians where not fighters and they had hardly any weapons at all. He suddenly held her tightly to him. "If they do I wont let anything happen to you." He whispered into her ear. She suddenly felt that feeling in her stomach again, and shivered. "Its chilly out here." She said. Not noticing that Puck was wearing a cloak, and not realizing that he was tucking it round both of them, she blushed with embarrassment. "It should be warm soon." He smiled down at her.
"Puck, when do you have to leave for your home?" She asked. "Soon, im afraid. Oberon doesn't like his children to stray far." He sighed. Suddenly feeling loss for the first time in her life, she hugged him tightly. "You will come back, right?" She asked desperately."Of course." Was his reply. She looked at the rose again. Puck pulled out his flute, looked at it, and then smiled down at Ashley. "I want you to have this. Ive had it since I was a small sprite, but its so you wont forget me while im gone." He told her. She took it and fingered it. She looked up at him. "There is only one thing I can give to you." She told him. His eyebrows raised in curiosity. "Well?"He asked. She laughed. "C'mere. Closer. Closer." He moved his head down closer to hers, and when their noses where touching she did something that surprised both of them.
She leaned in and kissed him gently on the lips. They both had no idea how long the kiss had lasted, but they just sat there, wrapped up In the cloak and each other's arms, kissing. The balcony was not visible from the ballroom, so no one noticed. Finally after god only knows how long, she broke off the kiss, and gasped in for air. They both had dazed looks and then it turned into surprise when their eyes met. "Dont forget me."Was all Ashley could breathe out. "I would never." Was his only reply.
He suddenly smiled and kissed her forehead. "Care to dance again, M'Lady?" He asked softly. Not able to say anything, she just nodded, and felt herself being lifted up by his arms as a new song came through to the terrace.
"When the visions around you
Bring tears to your eyes
And all that surrounds you
Are secrets tonight
I'll be your strength
I'll give you hope
Keeping your faith when it's gone
The one you should call
Was standing here all along
And I will take You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through this I promise you
This I promise you
I've loved you forever
In lifetimes before
And I promise you never
Will you hurt anymore
I give you my word
I give you my heart
This is a battle we've won
And with this vow
Forever has now begun
Just close your eyes
Each loving day
And oh this feeling wont go away
Till the day my life is through this I promise you
This I promise you
Over and over I fall
When I hear you call
Without you in my life baby
I just wouldn't be livin' at all
And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through this I promise you
This I promise you
Just close your eyes
Each loving day
And oh this feeling wont go away
Every word I say is true
This I promise you
Every word I say is true
This I promise you Ooo I promise you"
"Want to go for a walk?" He asked her. She had never moved from his embrace, and she looked up, smiling. "Sure." Her voice was softer than when she had spoke the first time, teenager like, and not royal like. Putting an arm around her waist and her putting her head on his shoulder would make them look like a couple walking through a park to any onlooker. They walked slowly, not saying a word.
For the first time without knowing it, Ashley was lead out of the palace, and into a small path. "Where are we? This place is so wonderful!" She reached down and touched the petals of a flower. "This is your comet, M'Lady. The part of your home that you never see. Its my birthday present to your majesty." He smiled. She touched the flower once again, then looked over towards him.
"This is the best gift I could ever imagine. This nature, the scenery, more than I have dreamed of." She stood up and walked over to him. "I have nothing I can give you to match up to this. You showed me my dream. Puck, I know we just met, but I feel something towards you. And its more than friendship, I don't know what it is because I have never felt it before." He reached down and touched her face."I know what you are feeling. And I am feeling the same way towards you. Though I thought it was impossible for me to feel this towards anything but what I do, you proved me wrong." He bent down slightly, just inches from her face. "It's called love, M'Lady." He whispered to her.
"Love?" She repeated. She had never known love outside of her friends and family. This feeling was very different from the love she had towards her friends and family. It was a new feeling altogether. "Yes. Yes, I believe that is it. I have never known this type of love before, Puck. I feel confused yet content" He smiled down at her. "It's alright. Just listen to your heart. What does it tell you?" He asked her. She looked down, then up. "I love you." She replied. He smiled. "I love you too."
Now she had never really believed in love at first sight, but she ignored her doubts. He leaned down and captured her lips in a gentle yet passionate kiss. She had never been kissed before by any man, not before this night, only 30 minutes ago tops. Now here she was, wrapped up in a Faye's arms, being kissed by him. She almost swore it was a dream.
But then again, dreams can come true. Like it? Hate it? Am I getting carried away once again? Just tell me! ^_^ ~Ashley-Chan~
