Background Information:
After a long line of various Opel mantas I purchased this car in 2002 from a chap in Stirling he had bought the car blind over the phone for his wife, when the car arrived by trailer at his door his wife said " I am not driving that its steering wheel is on the wrong side and it has no lights".
I bought the car looking a bit different from
today, it
was running but just. After a few weeks tiding and a MOT she was on the road and
looked ok. Last year I decided to give her a restoration and have put her back
to as near original as possible, this was a task as there are only about 80 cars
left in the UK .
The body was built in France and then shipped to Germany where the engine and running gear was fitted, most of the Opel GT production run went to the states, very few actually stayed in Europe and even fewer in the UK. This car is quite rare as she is a uk spec car.
Some unique design features were the revolving lights instead of the more conventional pop ups, operated by a lever on the centre console push for on pull for off, also the doors cut into the roof line with no rain gutter on the roof. The body is all steel and you will see that there are no seams on the wings and there is no boot lid the spare wheel is kept behind a cover in the back.
