Manufacturer: Triumph
Model:Spitfire 4 or Mk1
Owner: Mr S Dunlop
Year of Manufacture: 1963
Colour: Signal Red
Background Information:
The Spitfire 4 first appeared on the UK roads in
October 1962 this car was registered on 1 August 1963 so is from the first year
of production. Around 80% of production went to the USA. The current owner has
had the car since February 2005. The body was restored around 1982 - 1984 and
required only minor work to bring it back to a reasonable condition.
The
interior was completely worn out so was renewed in March 2005. This included
replacing the original leather seats with new Corbreau Classic bucket seats in a
style similar to the originals. The engine at present is a 1496 cc unit from a
Triumph Toledo TC together with overdrive gearbox. The 1147 cc engine/gearbox
will hopefully be rebuild and fitted over the winter. The spoked wheels are new
MWS painted rims again in the original style with 145/80 R13 Goodyear Tyres. The
car has had 5 owners from new. There would appear to be only a handful of these
little cars in Scotland and the owner loves being asked if he would like to sell
it. Having taken 3 years to find it the answer is NO! Should you wish to find
