Introduction:
Final Fantasy IX was the last of the series to be released on the PlaystationONE. Squaresoft again, experimented with this game. The graphics, for a start, are kind of exaggerated, almost cartoonish, but are very good quality. The game is also full of many references to the previous Final Fantasy games, that will make a lot of players Smile.
Story:
A group of thieves, known as Tantalus, masquerading as a theatre group are hired to kidnap Princess Garnet of the Kingdom of Alexandria, under the guise of performing the yearly smash hit play, I want to be a Canary. The ruler of Alexandria, Queen Brahane, who in the past had been regarded as a noble woman, has been seen as acting strange since the death of her husband. The main character of the game is Zidane, he is a prominent member of the gang and one of the members given the task of kidnapping Garnet. However, they don't bank on the fact that Garnet wants to leave the castle and believes her kidnappers to be castle guards. They eventually leave, but when their airship crash lands, Zidane leaves the gang in order to rescue the Princess. The pair embark on an adventure around the world, along with a young Black Mage called Vivi and an inept Knight called Steiner, who is sworn to protect the Princess. Meanwhile, manipulated by a shadowy figure known as Kuja, Queen Brahane declares war on the neighbouring kingdoms, using deadly Black Mage puppet like creatures who bear a startling resemblence to Vivi.
