Ayeka is from the planet Jurai and is the first crowned princess. Being the first crowned princess means that, if her father dies and she is married and has a husband, then she would be the queen of Jurai. Since Ayeka is of royal blood being the first crowned princess of Jurai, she has access to the powers associated with it.

Her arrival on earth was a result of her search for her brother Yosho. According to her account: Ryoko, under the control of Kagato attacked Jurai in search of the power of Tsunami. Vowing to capture Ryoko, Yosho went after her, never to return. His actual motive was really because he was half earthling and he wouldn't be accepted by the nobles of Jurai. He would have married Ayeka which is his sister and become the king of Jurai after his father's death.

Ayeka arrived at Earth aboard her ship Ryo-Oh by her perception of Ryoko's power. Ayeka hates Ryoko because she blames her for her brothers disappearance. Fueling her hatred of Ryoko is that they both desire Tenchi's love and attention. Ayeka's argument for possession of Tenchi is that her betrothal to Yosho was passed down to Tenchi because he is the grandson of Yosho. Since Yosho now is an old man, had been married, and had children, the possibility of marriage wasn't feasible.
