Information on building trails

Location:  Location is a big part in building trails.  You have to find a good location to build good trails.  Some things that you should look for in building trails is a location away from where people would want to build other stuff, such as homes, buildings, etc.  It is also a very good idea to build trails near water, so you can get the dirt wet for building.  Away from where dirt bikers will ride and little kids will play.  If you build them near where the dirt bikers ride they will most likely think it is funny to tear up the jumps that you have worked so hard to build.  Little kids are probably the worst part of trails.  They come there and slide down the landings thinking it is fun to slide on them.  If it is near food that is a good thing also, but it is really hard to find a place that has all of these qualities unless you buy your own land.

The Jumps:  The jumps are the most important aspect of trails.  Without the jumps you have no trails.  If you are building trails that anyone can access it is a good idea to build doubles.  That way if they get messed up it is easier to rebuild them, and it doesn't take as long to build.  Also doubles intimidate all the people that would try to jump them if they were tables and mess them up.  The jumps that you should build at the trails should be a wide variety.  You should have technical stuff, trick stuff, rhythm sections, berms, many lines and transfers.  It may take a while to get your trails built up, but if you get a bunch of people to help then it takes less time and effort.  If you get all of the above stuff built your trails should be pretty good as long as you have different sized jumps.  Jumps to warm up, jumps to ride over without trying to hard and jumps that are huge to learn and get better on.

Miscellaneous  If you build trails on state land you should keep them clean, so that if someone comes there hiking or something and sees a mess they don't tell the state and you don't get the trails torn down.  If you keep the trails clean then no one will mind you having them there.  If you harass people that go there, like little kids, and they go home and tell their parents and their parents call the state and tell them, you may get the trails torn down.  If you follow everything I have stated then your trails can get built up and be really fun for you and everyone that rides there.
