Radio has been a large part of my life, at first in Commercial Radio, and later as a hobby in Amateur Radio. Commercial Radio My commercial radio career commenced late in life when I auditioned for a position with 3NE Wangaratta, a country town in the State of Victoria, Australia, which had just received its licence to broadcast. I had just turned 34 years of age and worked my way up from sales and part time announcer to Studio Manager then Assistant Manager. Here are some photos of my time with 3NE accompanied by some of my staff members and a young announcer who worked so well with me on several programs. |

After many years with 3NE, I took on the post as Network Studio Manager for the Victorian Broadcasting Network in the
Age Chambers in Collins street Melbourne producing programs for the following country stations. 3TR Sale, 3SH Swan Hill,
3CV Central Victoria, 3HA Hamilton and 3NE Wangaratta. These were very busy times to produce weekly programs and get
to the network in time for on-air schedules. 50th Anniversary 3NE In 2004 I was invited to a get-together in Wangaratta to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of 3NE being on the air. Tom Warne was an original staff member when 3NE came on air on 27th March, 1954. I auditioned, and was successful, and took up my duties in the month of July or early August 1954, and so was with the station in it`s first year of operation. |

I left commercial radio in 1964 to work for the Asthma Foundation of Victoria until I retired in 1983 and then took up the hobby of Amateur radio obtaining my unrestricted licence in that year. |
