This section of the statewide Buckeye Trail runs through the Lone Pine area of O'Neil Woods.
After traveling a few hundred feet on Deer Run Trail, take a left onto the Buckeye and you run through this open field.
Then you'll see the post on the left side of the trail telling you to turn right. If you go straight you'll enjoy one of the many side trails that the "Woods" has to offer. But for now let's stay on the Buckeye!
It's easy to stay on the trail if you learn and follow the blazes. The top mark gives change of direction. In this case, make a left turn.
Of course, some times nature takes a hand. This blazed oak came down in a recent wind storm.
This blaze looks confusing but it depends on where you're standing. If you're on the trail to the left it's telling you to turn right. If you're on the section of trail on the right, you're to turn left. The trail straight ahead is just another of those pesky side trails.
It might be tempting to just go straight and check out this unknown trail but let's just follow the blaze and go left.
