At this point, all that's left of the Canal is an dent in the earth, shaded by a big old tree.
The Cuyahoga River meanders through a flood plain area, following the power lines.
This flood pole shows that the Cuyahoga doesn't always meander slowly along. It shows a high water mark of 12' 6" in 1959 down to 3'9" in 2000. I'm old enough to remember 1959!
The ALCOA Forge Overlook is a great place to check out the river if you don't mind the climb or the slight smell of a the forge.
Reminding us that this is an industrial area, the ALCOA display includes a punch press and several of the products produced in the plant in the background.
Just five miles more to the end of the Towpath. We'll have to wait a few more years until the final section is finished. For now it's back to the Canalway Center.
