Old Q will be appearing in TWINE, as usual, to show off the latest Q Branch
technology to an unimpressed Bond. Gadgets this time include rocket-firing
bagpipes and a speedboat that is able to operate in only three inches of
water. There was no truth in the rumour that Q was retiring, at least for
this film anyway. Instead, he is training up a replacement in the form
of "R", who may well take over in the Bonds to come.

Q Won't ‘Bow Out’. The Diva over at The Sleaze website has quotes from Desmond Llewelyn, the beloved Q of the James Bond series wherein the elder actor addresses rumours of his retirement and possible replacement by John Cleese as R. Llewelyn revealed, "I told the producers that they had to find me an assistant because one day I will not be here. But I will not bow out unless God wants me. I have no intention of retiring." |
