Again,
stunt co-ordinaors are highly trained, highly skilled professionals who
generally started out as stunt men and have now gone on to coordinate the
many outrageous stunts and action sequences we have come to associate with
the Bond Films. A Stunt Coordinator works closely in conjunction
with the Second Unit Director to make sure all the stunts are executed
smoothly and safely, and with the minimum of fuss necassary.
Simon Crane, stunt co-ordinator, has planned some of the most exciting and daring stunts in motion picture history. His challenging career has brought him into contact with the likes of James Cameron, Steven Spielberg and Mel Gibson, and he has been responsible for many remarkable pieces of stuntwork in films such as Aliens, Alien 3, Titanic, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Braveheart, Total Recall, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Batman. Crane was the aerial stunt coordinator for "Cliffhanger," in which he set a record for the first jet-to-jet mid-air transfer. He also includes among his additional coordinating and second unit directing credits "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and The Fourth Protocol, for which he doubled Pierce Brosnan. In addition to Mel Gibson, Crane has doubled for Kevin Costner, Michael lronside, and Bill Paxton. Of course, he has had a long and distinguished connection with the Bond films since his involvement in The Living Daylights, in which he doubled for Timothy Dalton. More recently, he performed coordinating duties for GoldenEye. Crane has just completed production on Steven Sommer's The Mummy, and most recently, James Bond's latest: The World Is Not Enough.
