Robert Kirtley

Kirtley Robert (1786 - 1872) Rev. Robert Kirtley was born in Culpepper Co., Va., May 30, 1786. In 1796 he with his parents emigrated to Boone Co., Ky., where he spent the remainder of a long and eminently useful life. He professed religion and united with the Baptist church at Bullittsburg in 1811. In 1812 he entered the army as a lieutenant, and at the close of the campaign returned home and engaged in the active duties of religion. He was licensed to preach in 1819, ordained in September 1822, and in 1826 he succeeded the beloved Absalom Graves in the pastoral care of Bullittsburg church. He was the leading preacher for years in North Bend Association, of which he was the moderator thirty-one years. He died April 9, 1872.
