The descriptions I propose to you have the particularity to be those of Etienne de la Ville, Count of LACEPEDE (1756-1825), a French naturalist who enriched the work of BUFFON with, in particular, a part concerning fishes.
Certain texts are to some extent obsolete while others, relevant, offer a particular point of view, but they cannot leave indifferent when you know that they date from the 18th century and that the means of investigation and knowledge of those times were far from being as complete as nowadays.
