APOLLO LP DISCOGRAPHY

Mahalia´s change from the APOLLO label to Columbia came in a time when the LP was invented and introduced on a broad level. During the APOLLO contract, no LPs were issued. When APOLLO realized the commercial success of the Columbia recordings, they compiled the following LPs from earlier recordings (before 1954).
All APOLLO LPs were also issued under the Kenwood label, using the same order numbers and cover art. They are not mentionend here.
In Europe, VOGUE published the APOLLO recordings on various compilations.
Today, the original recordings are published on a variety of labels in differing sound quality. A good collection seem to be te Japanese P-VINE editions (3 CDs), using three original covers. Their titles are: MAHALIA, IN THE UPPER ROOM, and JUST AS I AM. Try AMAZON.COM to get hold of these CDs!
