The beginning years were a welcome struggle as is anything as createtively arduous as becoming a jazz musician/vocalist, but with the help of my late friend Don R. Basford, we prevailed.

I can clearly remember in the mid 70's as the time I recored my first demo. Don and I taped a plastic microphone to the top of a broom handle and wedged the broom between two chairs. He played the piano loud and wrong and I'd sing louder and wronger. It was positively majestic. After 18 years of drugs and alcohol, with Don's help I sobered up and have remained sober since 1985. It's stories like that which help to keep one grounded.

All those years ago I told my friend, Don that I'd record his songs someday. Don is no longer with us physically, but my first CD "Suddenly" is lasting proof that he has continued to bless us with his presence. "Suddenly" is also dedicated to my late father Louis L. Eames, (who started the first black bank along with 4 other men in Baton Rouge La. in the 1950's and turned it into the 7th LARGEST black savings and loan in the country). My Father was my first hero and one of the most wonderful and vivacious men I've ever known, He passed in 1990. See Who's WHO in Black America for more detailed info. And to my late nephew Cedrick JaRon who is deeply missed.

There will always be a very special place in my heart for my first "unofficial" manager/agent and dear friend Margrit Jacobson whom I met while living in Berlin for a few years, and who has worked diligently on my behalf (getting me many bookings in Germany) with no other motive than to help me in my career. I didn't know they still made people like her, a real jewel.

I believe that God puts people in our lives somewhere between time and space and for reasons both obvious and mysterious and if you have the good sense to accept the blessing then you obtain a higher level of communication and understanding and that is what I've developed with my good friend and business partner Norbert J. Bogner, who has my profound gratitude for believing in me enough to have offered mental and financial support to the point where I could have the freedom to think and do music. It would've been most arduous these last few years without Norbert's unequivocal support.
