Hi...just wanted to thank you for allowing me to place a query!
I located a
new cousin on line who helped me make a link and helped me find
a mistake
that has been leading me on the wrong track for years!
Many thanks!
Traci Bennett
Dear Bob,
The success rate is getting off to a good start the first day it is
posted...already information in my
mail.
Brad
Thank you so much for your wonderful page. I have received a response
to
my February query and find that I am not crazy, there was a Donnan
family in
Laurens, South Carolina. I appreciate your pages and the help
it has been
to me. Thank you again.

Dear Bob,
My query looks great, and
I thank you for posting it so speedily I
have received one terrific response already, giving me the name, address
and phone number for 'The Clinton Chronicle' and Gray Funeral Home.
In
addition, this person went to the trouble of looking up Gladys Barnes'
obituary in the 'Laurens County Advertiser' for April 16, 1959, and
sent me
a complete transcription, for which I am immensely grateful!
Such terrific
service!!!
Thank you for posting my
query.

Subject: Laurens County Rev War info request

Good day!
My GGGG-grandfather Christopher HARDY, was reportedly a militia Lt.
in
Laurens County during the Rev War. I understand he was "murdered" along
with
others by a Mr. Cunningham at what is called the Hayes Station Incident".
Would you have a reference that might provide details and list the
individuals involved? I was also told there is a monument to this incident,
but it is down an unmarked dirt road (haven't we all looked for those
in the
past!) - anyway, I would like to visit the site, take a photo, etc.
Do you
know the exact location?
I guess it would probably be an 8 - 10 hour drive from where I live
in
Virginia Beach, Va., but I would like to visit there some weekend fairly
soon
(if I can pinpoint the site).
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Jackie
allow me to introduce myself. I am Elnita Owens. Bob Burgess forwarded
your request to me. I have told him I will be glad to help with anything
he might need from my part of the county.
I live in in Clinton and am very familiar with the Hayes Station
Massacre. I have a gooe bit of info on this, along with a picture
of
the monument and a map whowing directions to it. On the monument
is a
list of the 14 men that were killed at Hayes Station by Bloody Bill
Cunningham. A Lt. Christopher Hardy is among the names.
I would be
more than glad to send you all this through the mail as I think it
a
bit too much to try and e-mail. If you will send me your mailing
address I will be glad to forward this on to you.
If you decide to come this way, I will be glad to show you where the
monumentent is located

Hello, Bill.
As asked, I searched for info on the following:
==========
Parents of Elizabeth Poole, b 9 March 1817 Laurens Co, d 29 Nov 1881
Laurens Co. married William H Fowler 7 Feb 1839 b 1814 d 12 April 1891
==========
**BINGO!**
William H. Fowler and Elizabeth Fowler are buried side by side at
Warrior Creek Baptist Church. Grave marker:
William H. Fowler, C.S.A
born Mar 24 1814
died Apr 12 1891
Elizabeth R. Fowler
died Nov 29, 1881
age 63 y 3m 12d
wife of W.H. Fowler
==========
Now notice, Bill, that if you work backwards to Eliz birth date, you
get: Aug 17, 1818. That didn't jive with the info you gave me (Mar
9,
1817), but I believe the stone.

Greetings Bob,
I am happy to report that my inquiry has already had results.
Lee Adair
responded that he had information on the DUCKETTS which confirmed that
ELIZABETH DUCKETT was indeed the daughter of THOMAS DUCKETT and wife
of
AUSTIN MOSELEY.
Your web site has been extremely helpful, as have you. MANY Thanks
for
your help and your site.
I discovered that I inadvertanly listed 75044 as my Zip Code when 75040
is
correct. This is for your information, NO need to correct the
inquiry.

Several weeks ago I posted a query about Sanford Boyd and was rewarded
with 2 replies. From these 2 replies I found endless info on my
grandmother Allie Boyd Goddard. I have not had that kind of luck
searching for my grandfather's ancestors but I am not giving up at this
point.
Someone has to know something. I have searched libraries, and
will continue to do so.
Thanks for this internet site. It is a great genealogical tool.

Have been looking on this site for about 3 weeks - have already found
4
cousins - one in California, one in Texas, one in Columbia,& one
who
still lives in Laurens around the original home place (Ekom) and
remembers my grandparents who died about the time I was born. Cannot
wait to visit and here and see firsthand.

Hello Bob,
I am so very, very happy to report that our family has
been
successful and we have located my grandfather's grave! We could

help or
who
helped were instrumental in our family's success!!! You can either
update or
remove my query so someone else can have the space! Thanks for

Received a call from my cousin Friday night. Have talked to him a

finding
each other.
