This is after I taped it for painting. It was the first time I had ever taped for a paint job so I didn't know there was a difference in paper, and it never occurred to me to ask. It looked great, but the paint saturated the paper and left a few spots on the tank in places unintended. It wasn't that big of a deal but it did add an extra 3 or 4 hours of careful sanding that could have been avoided. I was lucky it wasn't worse. It is best to spend the extra $2 for the correct paper. I did know enough to use 3M automotive masking tape. Other than that, the masking was easy and relatively fast. The more you do it, the easier it gets. The hardest and most time consuming part of this job, (and the most fun too) was the cutting out and fitting of all the pieces.
