When the South surrendered, Damascus came home and I was the happiest girl in the world. He joined the Texas Rangers and soon after we were married. We had three fine sons...every one of them the spitting image of their father. Occassionally, Damascus would have to leave for a time to go after some bandit. Meanwhile, I stayed at home and took care of the ranch and the boys. It was hard not being with him, but it was a good life.
I can remember the morning he went after the Dark Riders. They were a bunch of horrible men that rode into places in the middle of the night and slaughtered everyone there. Everyone was terrified of them. Damascus had come home the next morning and told me he had captured one of them and that the man had burned up in his cell that morning. He was white as a sheet, but he never told me how the man burned up. He took off on his horse, riding like hell was chasing him. The last thing he said was that he loved me and not to worry. That night, as the boys were getting ready for bed, I heard horses. Damascus was gone and I thought he was returning with a bunch of the rangers. When I went outside, I discovered differently.
When Damascus entered the cave to rescue me, they attacked him. There were 12 of them and they quickly captured him. They held him and taunted him while one of them drained me to the point of death. Then the leader drained Damascus. I knew as I lay dying that I would never see my husband again. Instead of killing him, they made him one of them. As they rode away laughing, Damascus sat beside me and wept. He tenderly took me in his arms and offered me the only thing he had left to give...my unlife. Now we search for the Dark Riders together. When they are all gone, then my sons can rest in peace and I will no longer hear their screams.
Briana is of the Ravnos. She currently has the rank of Thief. Her loyalty to her clan is almost as strong as her love for Damascus. And she will have her vengeance on those who cross her. By the same token, she is just as loyal to her friends and allies. She joined the Ravnos because they are wanderers like her. Since they travel all over the world, she has the freedom to look for the ones who destroyed her life. She is 153 years old in human time. She is still very young in vampire age.
She is dressed in black jeans, black lace-up Justin Roper boots, a black Stetson cowboy hat and a white silk shirt. Her long dark hair is tied back with a leather thong. Her skin is smooth and pale like porcelain and her eyes glow with an eerie green fire. Around her waist is a pair of matching colt pistols and in her belt is a Bowie knife made of damascus steel. On her finger is a Ravnos ring given to her by Damascus, who also gave her the silver bracelet she wears on her wrist. In her pocket she carries a watch given to her before she became a vampire. It plays "Requiem" by Mozart and inside is an inscription from Damascus.
Briana has the ability to control animals and insects and can make them do her bidding. She has several companions that are constantly with her: a Ravnos-trained hawk, a bobcat, a spider and a falcon. They are very loyal to her and will protect her at any cost, even their own lives.
