Briana's World of Darkness

"A crimson pool so warm and deep
lulls me to an endless sleep
your hand in mine I will be saved
        take me from this earth
an endless night, the end of life
from the dark I feel your lips
and I taste your bloody kiss."

        Briana's History

I was raised on a farm outside of Ft. Stockton, Tx. I grew up with Damascus and we were always together. It was hard for me when he left and went off to the war. Every day I waited for news that he had been wounded or killed. It was hard not knowing what was happening to him, but I had faith in him. He had promised we would never be separated, not even by death, and Damascus always kept his word.

When the South surrendered, Damascus came home and I was the happiest girl in the world. He joined the Texas Rangers and soon after we were married. We had three fine sons...every one of them the spitting image of their father. Occassionally, Damascus would have to leave for a time to go after some bandit. Meanwhile, I stayed at home and took care of the ranch and the boys. It was hard not being with him, but it was a good life.

I can remember the morning he went after the Dark Riders. They were a bunch of horrible men that rode into places in the middle of the night and slaughtered everyone there. Everyone was terrified of them. Damascus had come home the next morning and told me he had captured one of them and that the man had burned up in his cell that morning. He was white as a sheet, but he never told me how the man burned up. He took off on his horse, riding like hell was chasing him. The last thing he said was that he loved me and not to worry. That night, as the boys were getting ready for bed, I heard horses. Damascus was gone and I thought he was returning with a bunch of the rangers. When I went outside, I discovered differently.

They took me and the boys to the barn and demanded to know where my husband was. I told them I didn't know, that he had left that morning. They tied my sons up and began torturing them and killing them right before my eyes. The horror of that night will haunt me forever, and I still hear their screams in my sleep. They wouldn't believe me and they were deaf to my pleas for my children. After they had killed and mangled my sons, they set the house on fire and took me with them. For four days they drained my blood little by little. That is when Damascus finally found them.

When Damascus entered the cave to rescue me, they attacked him. There were 12 of them and they quickly captured him. They held him and taunted him while one of them drained me to the point of death. Then the leader drained Damascus. I knew as I lay dying that I would never see my husband again. Instead of killing him, they made him one of them. As they rode away laughing, Damascus sat beside me and wept. He tenderly took me in his arms and offered me the only thing he had left to give...my unlife. Now we search for the Dark Riders together. When they are all gone, then my sons can rest in peace and I will no longer hear their screams.

        Briana's Description

Briana is of the Ravnos. She currently has the rank of Thief. Her loyalty to her clan is almost as strong as her love for Damascus. And she will have her vengeance on those who cross her. By the same token, she is just as loyal to her friends and allies. She joined the Ravnos because they are wanderers like her. Since they travel all over the world, she has the freedom to look for the ones who destroyed her life. She is 153 years old in human time. She is still very young in vampire age.

She is dressed in black jeans, black lace-up Justin Roper boots, a black Stetson cowboy hat and a white silk shirt. Her long dark hair is tied back with a leather thong. Her skin is smooth and pale like porcelain and her eyes glow with an eerie green fire. Around her waist is a pair of matching colt pistols and in her belt is a Bowie knife made of damascus steel. On her finger is a Ravnos ring given to her by Damascus, who also gave her the silver bracelet she wears on her wrist. In her pocket she carries a watch given to her before she became a vampire. It plays "Requiem" by Mozart and inside is an inscription from Damascus.

Briana has the ability to control animals and insects and can make them do her bidding. She has several companions that are constantly with her: a Ravnos-trained hawk, a bobcat, a spider and a falcon. They are very loyal to her and will protect her at any cost, even their own lives.

Briana's poem for Damascus that is inscribed on the casket they share...

When things grow hectic in the world of the undead,
Here you may go and lay your weary head.
And sleep may come to you while you are here,
But always know you are in my heart dear.
Throughout eternity, we will always be one.
And I will lie in your arms with the rising of the sun.
Each night I will wake and kiss your handsome face,
And each morn I will sleep in your immortal embrace.
So sleep easy, my dear, as you lay by my side,
For when tomorrow comes, together we'll ride.
And search this cold world for the vengeance we'll reap,
So eventually our children will finally sleep.
For their souls cry out with the pain they were dealt.
And their cries will continue to make my heart melt.
The day will come when their cries will be still,
When the last Dark Rider, we finally kill.
But tonight, my love, rest your head next to mine,
So I can remember our life in a better time.
I give you my heart that will forever be true.
Goodnight sweetheart. I'll always love you.
