It was a spectacular celebration that night at Figaro Castle, and everyone
was rejoicing over the death of Kefka. In the throne room, Edgar sat alone
as people danced and had fun around him. Sabin was there laughing it up with
some burly sailors from Nikeah, and Cyan Garamonde was conversing with Gau
(indeed a daunting task).
"Whew! What a night!" said the young king to himself. He had danced with
countless women, including Terra. He was worn out.
All of a sudden, a colorfully robed figure sat down beside him. "Whew! What
a night!" Gogo mimicked King Figaro, sitting down in the queen's throne next
to him.
"Get out of here, you little-" Edgar grabbed at Gogo, who ducked and ran
off, no doubt laughing to himself under his masked form.
Edgar started to chase after him, but suddenly screams and shouts diverted
his attention. People were pointing up at the towering ceiling, where a
mysterious figure had leapt from the chandelier onto one of the draped walls,
and slowly slid down as he grabbed the red curtain, tearing it as he went.
The final twenty feet he made a drastic leap, landing between Gau and Cyan.
The force of his impaxt knocked Cyan back a small ways, and knocking Gau off
his feet.
All eyes were on this new figure, hidden under a bulky amount of stunning
armor. Then, the figure spoke.
"I am Ziegfried! The greatest swordsman who ever lived!" he boasted.
Sabin easily recalled meeting this babbling fool on the Phantom Train, in
what seemed like so long ago…
He was about to speak up, when Cyan cut him off.
"Ah! Tis thou!" he said in his quaint way of speaking. "Greetings, Sir
Siegfried, art thou back for more swordplay?"
Sabin couldn't contain himself any longer. "Swordplay! HA!" he chuckled.
"With this bag of wind?"
In anger, Siegfried unsheathed his blade. "I can beat grampa here anyday,
ox!" he retorted. He then turned to face Cyan. "Sir, I challenge you to a
duel!"
Sabin walked forward angrily, ready to clean the swordsman's clock, but Cyan
stopped him.
"I accept," he muttered as he unveiled his shimmering Sky Render.
The crowd began to stand back, as did Gau after Sabin pulled him away
forcefully.
For a few moments, the two combatants just glared at eachother, but then,
simultaneously, they charged forward. The clash of their swords clanging
together echoed through the throne room as everyone watched in silent awe.
The two brought their swords apart, and the Knight of Doma ducked as the
over-zealous Siegfried swung a high slash, meant to decapitate. Garamonde
took this opportunity to take a swipe at the thickly armored man's knees.
"HA!" Siegfried taunted as he hopped over the swing easily. The dueling
knights now had their backs to eachother, so both swung around quickly.
Unfortunately for Cyan, the mysterious man had a special attack up his
sleeve-ten hits. The power had echoed through his mystical armor, and he
decided to use it before it was too late. Siegfried charged at the noble
Cyan, thrashing wildly. The first hit knicked Cyan's arm, the second and
third he blocked. The fourth slashed him in the side, but wasn't that
forceful. The next eight had been blocked, but then the ninth slashed him
directly in the chest. The tenth missed, but only because the Doma Knight
had been knocked off his feet onto the ground.
He leapt up, breathing heavily, and looking angrily back at his opponent.
Siegfried had stepped away and taken up a defensive position. His armor's
power had been drained and if he attempted attack he would move too slowly to
be successful.
Cyan stood, seemingly doing nothing, but a keen eye would notice a dim glow
beginning to illuminate from his sword. The glow increased, and Siegfried
waited impatiently for his armor to be restored.
The glow was lighting up almost the entire room, when someone saw Cyan
retract, ready to pounce.
Then, all of a sudden, the image of Cyan was replaced by a dark blur. The
shimmering strikes Garamonde took shined in the air as he tore through him.
Four slashes, then Cyan leapt back.
Quadra Slice... he thought to himself.
For a moment Siegfried just stood there helplessly, then his shattered armor
slid off his body, causing him to drop his sword along with it.
Everyone just stared for a moment at what the fanftastic armor concealed-a
scrawny young man wearing some tattered underclothes.
The entire room erupted with laughter.
Cyan glanced and walked away slowly, but Siegfried would not be outdone. He
angrily picked up his sword and ran madly at the noble Knight.
"Ziegfried shall not lose!" he shrieked as he raised the sword in the air.
Cyan sighed and almost effortlessly stepped out of the swordsman's path. Not
being able to stop, he ran right into a suit of armor, which crashed down on
him mercilessly.
For a moment everyone just stared at the bloody, bruised man, but then just
resumed the party.
"What shalt thy do with him?" asked Cyan to Sabin, who had just walked up to
him.
"What shalt thy do with him?" asked Gogo, who had just appeared behind them.
"Get out of here you-" Sabin yelled as he took a swing at Gogo, who evaded
it and darted off.
"Anyway…" said Sabin, turning back to the Doma Knight. "I'll take care of
him.."
In less than a minute, Siegfried's body was flying through the air at the
entrance to Figaro. It landed abruptly in the sand, and the Nikeah sailors
walked back inside with Sabin; their work had been done.
Siegfried's eyes opened wearily and he raised his head. He only had the
strength to spit out the mouthful of sand he'd just received before blacking
out.
Once again, the mighty Ziegfried had lost.
