Come on in, come on in. Come and find out what you've been missing in the world of video games, according to your fellow video gamers. Then, when you're done reading, send me your list of what you think are the all-time 25 best video games for any system, from consoles to computers to arcade games. Be sure you put the platform in parentheses. You can also include brief (or not so brief) justifications or descriptions of why each game earned their position on your list. If you're stuck for ideas, I recommend doing it this way: list all the good games you can think of, then narrow it down to 25, then rate them. Anyway, here are the lists. Enjoy.
My (Warteen's) List
25) Dr. Mario (NES) - I don't know what it was that made killing different colored little viri with pills so much fun, but I know it existed. I remember this as one of my first and favorite puzzle games.
24) Kid Icarus (NES) - Join Pit (a lot of people didn't know his name) as he tries to defeat Medusa in one of the most frustrating and addictive games in existence. The phrase "I'm finished" still makes me twitch.
23) Mega Man 2 (NES) - Quite possibly the greatest game in the great Mega Man series, which for awhile was a key to the success of the Nintendo Entertainment System.
22) Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete (PSX) - The first RPG I played possessing such an irreverent and comical tone that went hand in hand with a great plot, Lunar 2 won my heart immediately.
21) The Legend of Zelda (NES) - The first of a legendary series, the original Zelda was one of the best games for the NES, as well as a turning point in the way adventure games were made.
20) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game (NES) - Okay, so it wasn't an arcade game, but my brother and I loved the style of this two-player game just the same. Add to that the Ninja Turtles, icons of their time, and you have a winner.
19) Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) - This had to have been the most anticipated title of the early '90s (aside from The New Kids on the Block's latest album), and it didn't dissappoint. It used the RPG element of an overworld map, which was highly successful and also used by Super Mario World for SNES, another great.
18) Lufia & The Fortress of Doom (SNES) - Though confusing at first, Lufia quickly establishes an awesome plot and has touching characters, which was something that most other RPGs of that time failed to do (excepting a select few, of course). It's adventure meets tragedy meets romance.
17) Starcraft (PC) - If not for the free online play of this Blizzard hit, it would most likely fail, but due to that it has more replay value than any other game I've played.
16) Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) - It took the Pac-Man formula and gave it tons of new levels, moving fruit, and smarter ghosts. It was one of the best arcade games around in the '80s, and still is today.
15) Galaga (Arcade) - This must be my favorite arcade game of all time. It's an amazing top-scrolling shooter that gave way to hundreds of other wannabe games, but none that could quite match the simple effectiveness of it.
14) Tetris (GB) - The most insanely addictive puzzle game in the world. Tetris, of course, was designed by some crazy Russian genius who has probably affected more people than any world leader in history.
13) Pokemon Red/Blue (GB) - Much as I hate to, I have to admit that the game was good stuff, enough to start a craze that has still not completely worn off. Consumerism aside, this was a good way to introduce the next generation to RPGs.
12) Super Mario Kart (SNES) - Racing around 16 different tracks as one of your favorite Nintendo characters is a good enough idea, but putting weapons like koopa shells and banana peels in the game was a stroke of genius. Battle Mode was probably the most innovative thing to come out of Nintendo at that time.
11) Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! (NES) - Fight your way through boxer after boxer until you finally come to the king of the ring himself, Mike Tyson. After Tyson's legal troubles (not the biting ones, but before that), the game was remade and renamed "Punch Out!!", with Mr. Dream (a pasty white boy with a killer right hook) as the final character, but true fans know that the original was as good as it got.
10) Contra (NES) - You're a commando with a gun. Now, you get to kill about 2,000 enemy agents as well as several bosses. Oh, but here's 3 lives. Good luck.
9) The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB) - Link's first portable adventure turned out to be one of the best in the series. The only reason this one wasn't ahead of its SNES counterpart is, well, it was Game Boy.
8) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) - 3 pendants. 2 worlds. One Zelda. This was, in my opinion, the greatest game in the Zelda series. If the future titles would all just go back to its formula, they'd be even bigger successes.
7) Blades of Steel (NES) - There wasn't really a lot to this game. Just two buttons, pass and shoot, and then you could get into fights with your opponents. And yet, what a sweet game it was. I found this to be the only sports game ever made that was absolutely essential to a gamer's resume. If you've never played it, make sure you do.
6) Super Metroid (SNES) - It was Metroid, but bigger and badder. And I don't mean badder like worse. I mean it like in-your-face, top-of-the-line, no-nonsense, incredible gaming. If Metroid made Samus a legendary character, Super Metroid crystallized that position.
5) Super Smash Bros. (N64) - Pick one of 16 Nintendo characters, from Mario to Donkey Kong, from Pikachu to Ness, and then beat the tar out of each other. Bring along three of your friends, even! This was the greatest Nintendo 64 game made, period.
4) Final Fantasy VII (PSX) - I love this game so much because it was the first game I played where the characters seemed so real to me. When Aeris was killed, it was like a death in the family. This is a game that plays with your emotions and takes you on an adventure of epic proportions, into a vast and action-packed world. Be ready.
3) Chrono Trigger (SNES) - With a great story, battle system, characters, plot, music, and replay value, you can't go wrong. Squaresoft proved that to gamers in this truly amazing RPG. Crono, the silent protagonist, is easily identified with by all types of players as a hero, and it soon seems like the player is actually the star of the game, and the world(s) of Chrono Trigger are very real. Add to that the multiple endings ("Everyone's a Reptite? How'd that happen?!"), and you have yourself a winner.
2) Final Fantasy IX (PSX) - An amazing addition to the Final Fantasy series, FF9 spanned four discs of mini-games, hidden cutscenes, plot advancements, and wonderful graphics and FMVs. If all Final Fantasy games were like this, no one would ever play anything else. This game is a 9.5, at least, and I haven't played a 10 yet.
1) Final Fantasy III (SNES) - If it wasn't for FF3, you wouldn't be reading this now, because it was this game that turned me on to RPGs and inspired me to build my now huge web site. 50+ hours of gameplay. Characters that each have a distinct personality. A thousand or more quotable lines. Critters that are now considered standard in Square games, such as moogles and chocobos. These are just some of the things you'll find in this video game titan. In the world of RPGs, FF3 is king. No other Final Fantasy game, or any other RPG for that matter, has been able to topple this king from its throne.
Raistlin's List
25. Alundra (PSX) - The game is HARD, but this game is definitely worth reloading a few times.
24. FF 2 (SNES)
23. Legend of Legaia (PSX) - The plot becomes pretty confusing near the end, but it's pure gold up until the last hour or so
22. Super Metroid (SNES)
21. Star Fox (SNES)
20. Anachronox (PC) - I haven't finished the game yet, but it is extaordinarily good so far
19. FF7 (Playstation) - I would probably have rated this higher if it weren't for the huge, gaping plothole about what cloud is.
18. Starcraft (PC) - I've played it more on single player instead of multiplayer, unlike warteen, but it's still among my favorites
17. Suikoden 2 (PSX)- Takes all the best parts from the first game and improves upon them all.
16. FF 8 (Playstation) - Some people hate the game, but I've never understood why. There ARE some bad things like people using swords and whips when they could just go buy a gun.
15. tetris (calculator) - I say the calculator version is best because you can play that in math class, where you would obviously be bored, otherwise (unless you're conspicuous about it)
14. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
13. planescape: torment (PC) - more dialogue than any other RPG to ever exist. If you're easily bored with conversations, don't buy this game.
12. quake (PC) - This game wasn't nearly as good as its sequel, but it's this high mainly for the low-gravity map in which the entire class refused to play me unless it was me vs. everyone else. We played Quake every day because the computers were not good enough for Quake 2 to run.
11. xenogears (PSX)
10. quake 2 (PC) - I'm QUITE surprised that Doom was above this game on the "top 100" list. This game is the best traditional first person shooter ever.
9. Chrono Trigger (SNES)
8. phantasy star 4 (Genesis) - Go download the ROM
7. unreal tournament (PC) - Is, without a doubt in my mind, the best multiplayer experience one can get.
6. ff 9 (PSX)
5. ff 3 (SNES)
4. deus ex (PC) - First person shooter/rpg
3. baldur's gate (PC)
2. baldur's gate 2 (PC) - the two baldur's gate games are just about the same in funness, but baldur's gate 2 had a neat expansion pack, while baldur's gate expansion pack wasn't nearly as good
1. fallout 2 (PC) - it's only $13! Go out and buy it now! It has a number of adult themes, though, so it's not for people that are offended easily by things like drug use and prostitutes. The BEST part about this game, though, is that you can kill merchants and just take all their stuff, instead of having all the stuff vanish into thin air like on so many other games. I could easily go on about how great the game is, but it would be better if you bought the game yourself.
Karn's List
*)Super Street Fighter 2(SNES): okay. i just added this one at the last second. it deserved some mention. it was a great fighting game. i didnt even give it a number on my list, i just thought it deserved some mention.
25)Kid Icarus(NES): a classic. this game is still fun to play after all these years.
24)Ninja Gaiden(NES): a decently challenging game.
23)Mega Man X(SNES): this was cool. i liked it when mega man came to snes. Zero was a really cool character.
22)Adventure Island 3(NES): the dinosaurs you ride are cool. secret and alternate stages made this one superior to the original.
21)Tetris(NES): addictive.
20)Illusion of Gaia(SNES): this game was really cool. i liked the story, but the ending was sort of... well, left something lacking. this would have made it higher, but the only replay value this game had was to get all of the red jewels. and you didnt get anything cool at all for beating the monster there.
19)Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!(NES): the original was really great. the remake was lame, but this game is great. a good challenge.
18.) Mega Man 3(NES): definately the best mega man game in the series. rush was introduced in this one, as well as those little red bucket guys who give you random items. this one had the coolest bosses, i think.
17)Super Mario World(SNES): this was great. before i owned a super nintendo and i'd occasionally rent one from the video store, i'd ALWAYS get this game as well. half of the fun of this one was finding all of the hidden levels and exits, which the previous mario games didnt have.
16)Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past(SNES): a good game. dont really know what else to say about it.
15)Contra(NES): i love this one. and the solution to warteens three lives problem is (up up down down left right left right B A start)
14)Super Metroid(SNES): an amazing game. i loved that it expanded upon the first one so much as to keep sections of the game the same as they were. like warteen said, bigger and badder than the first, and definately immortalized samus aran.
13)Legend of Zelda(NES): the classic. there's just something about this one that keeps it a favourite of game players every where.
12)Bubble Bobble(NES): dinosaurs who blow bubbles through over two hundred levels of amazing fun. and that music NEVER GETS OLD! i have a wav file of that classic music if anybody wants it. and to give credit where its due, i got the file from alucard.
11)Metroid 2: Return of Samus(GB): my opinion is that this is the best one in the series. i dont know why. it'd be great if it were on SNES and in colour though. i truely hope they make another Metroid game for the PSX or something.
10)Pokemon Red/Blue(GB): i hate to admit it, but this game is a lot of fun and terribly addictive. i never really got into the pokemon craze, but this game was excellent.
9)The Adventures of Willy Beamish(PC): please tell me if you've played this game! its great! a wonderfully delightful RPG. came out in the early nineties i believe. free downloads of this can be somewhat easily found on the internet. download it and play it! its free for cripes sakes!
8.) Final Fantasy 2(SNES): this was a good game. i liked all of the unique personalities the characters had. and who can forget, "YOU SPOONY BARD!"
7)Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening(GB): fantasticly amazing game. after beating it the first time, i replayed it about 1,284,569,342 times. sure, i'm bored of it now, but look at how many times i played it! this game is totally the best in the zelda series.
6)Final Fantasy 9(PSX): 9 and 8 were sort of tied, but i think i like 8 better. 9 had a good story, and i liked the ending a lot. but something happened whilst playing this game that hasnt happened to me in any other ff game except for 5. i got bored of it and stopped playing for about two or three months. i dont know why that happened, but that was one of the only elements that kept it from being higher on the list. in 5's case, i'm about an hour into the game and havent touched it in at least a year.
5)Final Fantasy 8(PSX): so much controversy surrounding if this game is good or not. it IS good! it was cool that the creators got daring and decided to experement with different methods leveling, where the monsters level with you, and with obtaining gil. the over all story was good, but there were a couple of small plot holes.
4)Chrono Trigger(SNES):the replay value made this game fantastic. there are, i think, ten endings you can get. it had a great story, very different and very alive characters, each with their own unique personality. and it had a great story line.
3)Super Mario Rpg(SNES): one of the more under-rated RPGS out there. i loved this game. there was so much you could do and it took mario to a whole new demention. and the final fantasy references with the secret boss in monstro town are really cool too.
2)Final Fantasy 7(PSX)
--tie--
1)Final Fantasy 3(SNES)
i could not choose between these two games. they are both incredible in so many ways. they both have such great characters and great story lines. there is so much to do in both of them, although final fantasy 7 had more side-quest-ish optional things you could do. finding all of the ultimate weapons and limit breaks, and chocobo breeding/racing! these two games are amazing and way above anything else i have ever played.
Alucard's List
25.River City Ransom (NES): Beat up the bad guys, steal their money, and save your girlfriend!
24.Mario Kart (SNES): The whole Mario gang racing in go karts, shooting turtle shells, and droping banana peels! Pure madness!
23.General Chaos (SEGA): I loved this game! Best with 4 players, as the two teams try to take the other's capitals using machine guns, flame throwers, bazookas, grenades, and dinomite.
22.Soulblazer (SNES): I used to play this game for so long when I was little. Kill the baddies, and step on little buttons to release all the good little critters and people.
21.Monster Rancher 2 (PSX): Addictive game! Put any cd in, and make a monster, then raise the little sucker to be strong, and win the monster tournaments!
20.The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES): A great comeback of zelda, after the second one, whice i didn't really care for...
19.The Legend of Zelda (NES): This game's a classic! One of the longest games of its day, and still one of the most fun. Lotsa memories with this one.
18.Super Metroid (SNES): One sweet game, lives up the the metroid name.
17.Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness (PC): Orcs vs Humans, Woohoo! Sure this game is kinda old, and more advanced games have come along, but I still play this game quite often!
16.Diablo II (PC): With 5 character classes, 3 difficulties, and a huge amout of items to be found this game has a nice amount of replay.
15.Final Fantasy 7 (PSX): Travel as Cloud, the messed up dude with the cool hairdoo, and who really doesn't know what's what the whole game!
14.Double Dragon (NES): Extremely hard game! especially when you have 2 Abbobo's kicking your butt all over the screen.
13.Metroid (NES): Another classic NES game. Don't let the Metroid's suck the life out of you!
12.Twisted Metal: Black (PS2): This is a GREAT improvement for the twisted metal games. the last 2 TM games were pretty sucky... Also the new dark and sinister taint to the game is a big plus as far as I'm concerned.
11.007 GoldenEye (N64): A good time is had by all in a good old fasion 4 player goldeneye deathmatch.
10.Twisted Metal 2 (PSX): This game was oh so fun back in its time. Driving around fireing missles at other cars, what could be better!?
9.Tecmo Superbowl (NES): This game is highly addictive. I still pull out the old NES when I feel like making some 100 yeard touchdown passes.
8.Bubble Bobble (NES): YES! This game has reached God-like status in my eyes! Although, it's so cute it might make you puke... Go download some bubble bobble music!!
7.Starcraft: Broodwars (PC): Blowing some little bug-like zerglings to pieces with a tank never gets old! This games like warcraft, but improved all around.
6.Actraiser (SNES): I looooved this game! wether I was flying around as the little angel trying to keep my poor little towns safe from the demons that were flying around, or I was running around in one of the sidescrolling levels hacking up some big ugly boss monster, the game just never got old!
5.Mike Tyson's Punchout! (NES): Fighting your way up from Glass Joe, and King Hippo, untill you finally get up the the dream fight with Tyson! Yes!!
4.Metal Gear Solid (PSX): Although it is pretty easy, This is a great game. Putting a C4 explosive on the guy's back as he uses the urinal NEEEEVER gets old!
3.Final Fantasy III (SNES): Gotta love it, from Moogles to a talking purple octopus this game has it all!
2.Final Fantasy 4 (SNES/PSX): My first ever RPG, and still my favorite! I'm still trying to learn how to do one of those cool spinning jumps that Cid's always showing off...
1.Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSX): As Alucard you return to Dracula's castle to put an end to your father's evil ways once again. This game was hours of fun. With tons of weapons & magic spells to play with, not to mention being able to transform into a wolf, bat, or mist. Besides it's where I got my name from, of course it's gunna be my #1!

13.clock tower(psx)- OK, this game is seriously weird! You play a person who has lived though the gruesome clock tower murders, well anyway the whole game you pretty much just run from a scary hunchback man with a big pair of scissors.
12.Final Fantasy III (snes)- Do I really have to tell you about it?!!!

Chubert34's List
25. General Chaos (Genesis)-This game just had a lot of fun it. you had you army, your friend had theirs. Nothing more to say bout this game. It was a blast

21. Double Dragon 2 (NES)- A great Fightting/Adventure game. the best for the NES. A very fun game. Very addictive
20. NHL 95 (Genesis)- The hockey game that started it all for me. It had the season mode where you and a friend could battle it out to get the Stanley cup, and it had stat keeping. Not to mention who could forget the tangle foot?
19. Bubble Bobble (NES)- A GREAT GAME to say the least. Think about it trapping an enemy in a bubble, could you think of a better way to get your enemy? Me neither this game was very addictive with plenty of levels. Even though this game was cute it had a scary part to it. Who could forget that evil white whale that came to get you after the time had run out? Not me that's for sure. With plenty of levels this game was very fun, hard to put down and remains a great game
18. Twisted Metal: Black (PS2)- A very good game that pits you in a car of mass destruction against other cars. One of the best games on the PS2 with its sick and twisted stories straight out of a lunatics mind. but what makes this game great is the gameplay going around destroying other cars. very fun
17. Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)- ah the best football game on the NES. whoever picked this game up wouldn't put it down for months to come. As the years go bye people will still bring this game out of the closet to play again and who could blame them?
16. Monster Rancher 2 (PSX)- A very fun game. You get to raise your own monsters and have them fight against monsters that your friend raised. Highly addictive and very long.
15. Warcraft 2 (PC)- I guess I can credit Alucard for this one. He is the one that introduced this game to me. This game is the greatest PC game I have ever played. To this day I haven't found a PC game as addictive as this one. I would play this game all night, it was just so fun when you played against other people online. All I can say is a great game
14. Timesplitters (PS2)- A great FPS. A game that you could waste hours playing and not get bored with friends. Combined with the create a level this game was a great game indeed.
13. Twisted Metal 2 (PSX)- The Twisted Metal that started it all for me. A game that I would almost play every day when I first got it. I had to beat the game with every character (some with cheats) and it is still a fun game to play.
12. Final Fantasy VII (PSX)- A great RPG. The first RPG that I ever got hooked onto and the RPG that started my love for RPG's a great game that hooks you on and doesn't let go till the end.
11. Wild Arms 2 (PSX)- Some of you are saying what is this game doing ahead of a final fantasy game? well hold on just a minute. This game is truly a great RPG. The exploration mode is very fun with the tools that each character has and the storyline is top notch and the only minor flaw to this game is that the battles can get boring at times if you are just trying to level up. Otherwise it would be tough to find a better RPG for the PSX.
10. Tenchu 2 (PSX)- An unbelievable stealth game. A game that will have your heart beating and keep you hooked trying to hide and kill your enemies without them spotting you. A game that anyone would like.
9. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)- WOW what a game. a great storyline, unbelievable controls, and gameplay that is breathtaking. The greatest Action/Adventure game for the N64. A truly unbelievable game.
8. Final Fantasy IX (PSX)- The greatest RPG on PSX. unbelievable storyline, great battle mode, great characters, and if that doesn't satisfy you taste then the minigames sure will. I don't know what to say about this game it is just so great. FMV, Graphics, everything about this game is great.
7. Castlevania:Symphony of the Night (PSX)- Some might criticize its 2D graphics but I wouldn't have it any other way. the number of weapons is phenomenal and the story is couldn't be beat. AN UNBELIEVABLE GAME.
6. WWF: No Mercy (N64)- A great game to play with friends. 3 way match, ladder match, Ironman, and the ability to gain championships from your friends and brag that your the best. A truly fun game. All the moves, and the gameplay and controls couldn't be better. A must have game if you want to have some fun with friends videogame wise. A game that will be played for years to come guaranteed. A game that should have been in the top 5 but with the other games that you will see makes it almost impossible for it to be in the top 5.
5. Metal Gear Solid (PSX)- A game that combines stealth with guns. Perhaps the greatest story out of any game on the PSX. An unbelievable addictive game that will have you playing it and beating the game at least 3 times.
4. Super Smash Bros. (N64)- You get to pick out of 12 characters to be and knock around 3 of your friends in this game. A game that can keep you up all night playing with your friends trying to knock them off the stage. all I have to say about this game is WOW. TRULY A GREAT GAME. you will never want to put this game down.
3. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (PSX)- a perfect skating game to say the least. to rank this game from 0-10 Game Informer gave this game a perfect 10 the first game ever to get this score and I would have gave this game the same score. There is nothing bad about this game whether it be 1 player or you and a friend. Unbelievable.
2. Final Fantasy III (SNES)- Simply put: THE BEST RPG GAME OF ALL TIME. The story, the graphics for an snes, the characters, the items, the espers, the magic, the weapons, the list goes on and on. This RPG is and RPG that is perfect and is still not beaten by any other RPG.
1. Goldeneye (N64)- This game truly had it all. THE BEST FPS EVER. It had an unbelievable 1 player mode. They gave you mission objectives, the first FPS to do so, very innovative. The weapons were great, they couldn't have been better. the graphics were stunning at the time when it was one of the first games ever for the N64. The story was great as it followed the movie exactly. But where this game truly shined was the multiplayer. You would be able to play this game for a year with friends and still not be bored with it. People today are still trying to unlock the cheats for Goldeneye because some are just nearly impossible to achieve. 5 years old and this game is still great and still the best FPS out there. Playing this game with friends, this game could be played for years and years to come a compliment to a game that is already 5 years old.

HBC Heartbreak Chad's List
25) Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game & Turtles in Time (Arcade)- When the popularity of the "Heroes in a Half Shell" was at its peek, these were the games to play at Major Magic's, Chuck E. Cheese, or any other arcade. If you were lucky enough to get in on a game, you had fun, gaurenteed. Others would join you in your quest to defeat the evil forces of the Foot Clan, and it's leaders, Shredder and Krang, and you would become part of the adventure. It was the rush of a lifetime when you were young.
24) The Simpsons (Arcade)- The same as with the Ninja Turtles, but with the humor and fun of The Simpsons, the funniest sit-com of them all. Plus, it is so much fun to beat the bounce out the the giant Krusty balloon.
23) X-Men (Arcade)- Same as the above two, but with the mutant mayhem action of Marvel Comics most popular superhero team. Although I have no idea how Dazzler can breath in that tight outfit. Yeow!
22) G.I. Joe (Arcade)- I have only seen and played this game once at a Chuck E. Cheese's and haven't even heard of it since. But with the same response as the above three, plus the characters and action of my absolute favorite old school show, is just too good not to add to this list.
If you've never started (Or joined) a round with one of these games, get out to an arcade, get a whole bleep load of quarters, and start the adventure. If you can get a friend to go with you, you're set for the whole game, but even if you're alone, I gaurentee, the longer you hang in there, the more people will join you or watch you, and you will have fun. But remember, when the boss starts flashing red, the crowd can get pretty intense, and that's half the fun.
21) Food Fighter (Atari)- As a little boy, you race through a weird kitchen with holes in the floor, avoiding the holes and crazy food chuckin' chefs, on your way to a delisious ice cream cone. But hurry! If you're not fast enough, the ice cream will melt! Use the food you find along the way to attack the chefs, before they stop you from getting to your tasty treat!
Atari, our first taste of the arcade at home. It brought classic games and characters such as Dig Dug, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaxia, Galager, The Mario Bros., and Frogger into our homes (And saved us on quarters).
20) Mega Man (NES, SuperNes, Game Boy, Playstation)- Any game featuring the "Blue Bomber" using his Mega Buster to defeat the specifically skilled Robot Masters or Mavricks, and their leaders Dr. Wily or Sigma is an out right cool game!
19) Mortal Kombat (SuperNES, Sega Genisis, etc.)- This game's graphic violent content started a revolution of mature material in a formerly all children's area. Plus it created a need for a video game rating system, which led to the television rating system and beyond.
18) Dr. Mario (NES)- The classic game Tetris with a fun Mario twist.
17) Disney's Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers (NES)- The entertaining adventure of the chipmunk duo and their action team against the animal crimelord, Fat Cat.
Nintendo, Old school to the extream. Need I say more?
16) Super Mario World (SuperNES)- The classic character and his plumber brother in a brand new setting, with brand new characters, and brand new action options on an amazing brand new system, but with the same old plot. Everyone loved it.
15) Chrono Trigger (SuperNES)- Two words: YEAH BABY!!!!
14) Street Fighter 2 (SuperNES)- The grandaddy of all fighting games.
13) Super Mario All-Stars (SuperNES)- The three best Mario games for the NES put onto one cartrage for the new, and better Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
Until N64 came along, Super Nintendo was my favorite system of all time.
12) Disney's Darkwing Duck (Game Boy)- I just loved the pseudo superhero cartoon, and although the video game lacked the hilarious wit and zany slapstick of the show, it still featured DW's colorful villains gallery.
11) Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle 2 (Game Boy)- It's Bugs Bunny against the other Looney Toons characters to save Hunny Bunny (You heard me right), all thanks to Witch Hazel.
10) Super Mario Land 2 (Game Boy)- The same Mario game, but with a new plot and a new nemisis, the evil anti-Mario, Wario.
9) Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Game Boy)- A clever puzzle gave based on my favorite movie of all time.
For the longest time Game Boy was my main sorce of all my video gaming needs, it was fun, affordable, and portable. Then I went to Middle School, and things were never, EVER the same again.
8) Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Sega Genisis)- The first of the Sonic games with an added storyline. Knuckles and his anti-hero hunt for the Chaos Emeralds.
7) The Little Mermaid (Sega Game Gear)- The easiest, simplest, and dumbest game ever made, but it did make long car trips seem a lot easier to handle. And if you're ever feeling down it's so gratifying to beat a video game, even if it's this easy.
6) Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast)- The greatest Sonic game ever made. I love Sonic just as much as Mario, and this game really makes Sonic and friends (Knuckles, Tails, and Amy Rose) look fantastic against Dr. Robotnik (Dr. Eggman in this game) and his new allies, Shadow, the evil hedgehog with a mysterious past, and Rouge, the treasure hunting bat with a secret.
Dispite my choices for favorite games, in my experience, Sega is a name that does NOT mean quality.
5) WWF's No Mercy (N64)- "Oh, it's true! It's true!" You get to "layeth the Smackdown" with any of the available WWF Superstars, or any of your own fighting creations in the create-a-player mode, in a variety of thrill a minute matches. It's the "bottom line" of wrestling games for me until I can get my hands on Playstation's "Smackdown 2".
4) Mario Kart 64 (N64)- If I have to explain it, you haven't played it.
3) Super Mario 64 (N64)- Mario, taken to the next level.
2) Super Smash Bros. (N64)- OH YEAH! The ultimate entertaining fighting game. Bash, blast, slash, and splat your way through classic Nintendo characters, until you battle a giant hand called, the "Master Hand". You can also make the fight last as long as you want in bitter, yet funny, combat with your friends.
And now for my favorite video game of all time...
1) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)- The ultimate adventure with you as the hero. There is little I like better than a fantasy/adventure with daring action, vile villains, menacing monsters, and a classic story. This game delivers all, and then some.
Special Addition...
-1) The Spectacular Spider-Man (SuperNES)- Quite posibily the crappiest game ever made.

Tonific's List
25. General Chaos (Genesis)-This game just had a lot of fun it. you had you
army, your friend had theirs. Nothing more to say bout this game. It was a
blast
24. SSX (PS2)- The best snowboarding game ever made. a lot of fun trick and
racing combined.
23. Mario Kart 64 (N64)- Racing while having weapons at your disposal. A
great game.
22. Gran Turismo 2 (PSX)- The best racing game of all time. you raced to make
money to buy new cars, unlock new tracks, and to upgrade old cars. The
control was great. A fun game to own and play.
21. Double Dragon 2 (NES)- A great Fightting/Adventure game. the best for the
NES. A very fun game. Very addictive
20. NHL 95 (Genesis)- The hockey game that started it all for me. It had the
season mode where you and a friend could battle it out to get the Stanley
cup, and it had stat keeping. Not to mention who could forget the tangle foot?
19. Bubble Bobble (NES)- A GREAT GAME to say the least. Think about it
trapping an enemy in a bubble, could you think of a better way to get your
enemy? Me neither this game was very addictive with plenty of levels. Even
though this game was cute it had a scary part to it. Who could forget that
evil white whale that came to get you after the time had run out? Not me
that's for sure. With plenty of levels this game was very fun, hard to put
down and remains a great game
18. Twisted Metal: Black (PS2)- A very good game that pits you in a car of
mass destruction against other cars. One of the best games on the PS2 with
its sick and twisted stories straight out of a lunatics mind. but what makes
this game great is the gameplay going around destroying other cars. very fun
17. Tecmo Super Bowl (NES)- ah the best football game on the NES. whoever
picked this game up wouldn't put it down for months to come. As the years go
bye people will still bring this game out of the closet to play again and who
could blame them?
16. Monster Rancher 2 (PSX)- A very fun game. You get to raise your own
monsters and have them fight against monsters that your friend raised. Highly
addictive and very long.
15. Warcraft 2 (PC)- I guess I can credit Alucard for this one. He is the one
that introduced this game to me. This game is the greatest PC game I have
ever played. To this day I haven't found a PC game as addictive as this one.
I would play this game all night, it was just so fun when you played against
other people online. All I can say is a great game
14. Timesplitters (PS2)- A great FPS. A game that you could waste hours
playing and not get bored with friends. Combined with the create a level this
game was a great game indeed.
13. Twisted Metal 2 (PSX)- The Twisted Metal that started it all for me. A
game that I would almost play every day when I first got it. I had to beat
the game with every character (some with cheats) and it is still a fun game
to play.
12. Final Fantasy VII (PSX)- A great RPG. The first RPG that I ever got
hooked onto and the RPG that started my love for RPG's a great game that
hooks you on and doesn't let go till the end.
11. Wild Arms 2 (PSX)- Some of you are saying what is this game doing ahead
of a final fantasy game? well hold on just a minute. This game is truly a
great RPG. The exploration mode is very fun with the tools that each
character has and the storyline is top notch and the only minor flaw to this
game is that the battles can get boring at times if you are just trying to
level up. Otherwise it would be tough to find a better RPG for the PSX.
10. Tenchu 2 (PSX)- An unbelievable stealth game. A game that will have your
heart beating and keep you hooked trying to hide and kill your enemies
without them spotting you. A game that anyone would like.
9. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)- WOW what a game. a great
storyline, unbelievable controls, and gameplay that is breathtaking. The
greatest Action/Adventure game for the N64. A truly unbelievable game.
8. Final Fantasy IX (PSX)- The greatest RPG on PSX. unbelievable storyline,
great battle mode, great characters, and if that doesn't satisfy you taste
then the minigames sure will. I don't know what to say about this game it is
just so great. FMV, Graphics, everything about this game is great.
7. Castlevania:Symphony of the Night (PSX)- Some might criticize its 2D
graphics but I wouldn't have it any other way. the number of weapons is
phenomenal and the story is couldn't be beat. AN UNBELIEVABLE GAME.
6. WWF: No Mercy (N64)- A great game to play with friends. 3 way match,
ladder match, Ironman, and the ability to gain championships from your
friends and brag that your the best. A truly fun game. All the moves, and
the gameplay and controls couldn't be better. A must have game if you want to
have some fun with friends videogame wise. A game that will be played for
years to come guaranteed. A game that should have been in the top 5 but with
the other games that you will see makes it almost impossible for it to be in
the top 5.
5. Metal Gear Solid (PSX)- A game that combines stealth with guns. Perhaps
the greatest story out of any game on the PSX. An unbelievable addictive game
that will have you playing it and beating the game at least 3 times.
4. Super Smash Bros. (N64)- You get to pick out of 12 characters to be and
knock around 3 of your friends in this game. A game that can keep you up all
night playing with your friends trying to knock them off the stage. all I
have to say about this game is WOW. TRULY A GREAT GAME. you will never want
to put this game down.
3. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 (PSX)- a perfect skating game to say the least. to
rank this game from 0-10 Game Informer gave this game a perfect 10 the first
game ever to get this score and I would have gave this game the same score.
There is nothing bad about this game whether it be 1 player or you and a
friend. Unbelievable.
2. Final Fantasy III (SNES)- Simply put: THE BEST RPG GAME OF ALL TIME. The story, the graphics for an snes, the characters, the items, the espers, the
magic, the weapons, the list goes on and on. This RPG is and RPG that is
perfect and is still not beaten by any other RPG.
1. Goldeneye (N64)- This game truly had it all. THE BEST FPS EVER. It had an
unbelievable 1 player mode. They gave you mission objectives, the first FPS
to do so, very innovative. The weapons were great, they couldn't have been
better. the graphics were stunning at the time when it was one of the first
games ever for the N64. The story was great as it followed the movie exactly.
But where this game truly shined was the multiplayer. You would be able to
play this game for a year with friends and still not be bored with it. People
today are still trying to unlock the cheats for Goldeneye because some are
just nearly impossible to achieve. 5 years old and this game is still great
and still the best FPS out there. Playing this game with friends, this game
could be played for years and years to come a compliment to a game that is
already 5 years old.

very deep and emotional story and the graphics and battle system to go along
with it are amazing.

As for the story, nothing else even comes close.

your basket to theirs, and get on "fire." It's a really awesome game.

group of people together to play it. It's a whole lot better than

much fun now that the graphics are so outdated. It has really cool
characters none the less.

July), it is still one of my favorites. It is very dark and demonic,
yet holds true to the demolition of it's predecessors.

fun game that has a very cool setup (hand-to-hand and gun fighting)

pastime and had a pretty cool story-line.
8. Alundra 2(PSX): This is a very, very kiddish game, but it it still
has plenty of worth as an RPG.
7. Diablo 2(Mac/PC): This is a very interesting RPG. If you like
blood and gore and demons, you'll love this game.
6. Starcraft(Mac/PC/N64): One of the best strategic games of all
time. A little easy once you get the hang of it, but plenty of reply
value since it has a great online ability.
5. Super Mario RPG(SNES): One of the main reasons I have this in my
top five is it was my first RPG and a very good one at that.

me into the world of Zelda. It is fun and has an interesting story to
go with it.

time. It has a very interesting story, lots of twists, and a whole lot
of side quests.

This game is a must have.
1. Final Fantasy VII(PSX): This was my first PSX game, and my all time
favorite (as you can see). It has a huge story line with lots of
twists and plenty of characters to keep it interesting.

2. Final Fantasy 7
1. Secret of Mana - The top 10 were extremely hard to place. If I could place more than 1 in the number 2 catagory then I would put in final fantasy 3, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, Grandia and Final Fantasy 7. But Secret of Mana is the undisputed king of RPG's. Squaresoft hit a jackpot when it decided to introduce the real time battle system which was so incredibly cool! It made the game so much more real and believable. It's too bad that they only made 3 games like that though and Secret of Evermore wasn't nearly as good a game as Mana. The plot was great, it wasn't too long or to short, it was challenging with the new battle system, the spells were amazing, animation was smooth, and the weapons kicked butt. I always remembered how happy I would get with each upgrade of the spear. Man that was one sweet weapon. Try it out and you'll know what i'm talking about.

Mishra's List
25. Track and Field (NES) This game would have been worthless if not for the pad
you had to step on. It was to the 80's what DDR is today.
24. Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis) The first game of a very good (but not
Mario-good) series featured graphics and gameplay superior to Nintedo (of
course, SNES came out not long thereafter and wiped the floor with Sega).
23. Breath of Fire 3 (PSX) It brought the classic RPG into the 3D realm with
stunning success. Although subsequent titles were the same old junk, BoF3 was
truly original.
22. Shining Force (Genesis) Who here doesn't want to be a MMNK? That's what I
thought! This game paved the way for FFT and Tactics Ogre, and we all should be
thankful.
21. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out (NES) This game has always been sweet, but ever since
someone pointed out the resemblance between Glass Joe and John Kerry, it's
become that much more fun.
20. Final Fantasy V (Super Famicom, or something) I still can't figure out why
this was never released in America. I command you to get it for an emulator!
It is mindbogglingly sweet (it's also 4:30 in the morning).
19. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES) Although there wasn't much
exploring or pointless levelling up, this game was an absolute riot and had
amazing graphics.
18. Ogre Battle (SNES) For some reason, this game never became very popular, and
that's a shame. There are so many different paths to take. You'll never get
the same story twice (unless you try).
17. Disgaea (PS2) An hilarious RPG with great anime. There is an ungodly amount
of stuff to do for no reason (aim for 999,999 HP!) which, of course, equals
total sweetness.
16. Final Fantasy (NES) An amazing game for 1987. Very linear, but hey, it's
only NES. 8-bit theater makes it that much cooler.
15. Double Dribble (NES) I'm not big on basketball, but man, was this game fun.
14. Super Mario 64 (N64) Wonderfully innovative. It did a great job of crossing
over to 3D.
13. Tetris (NES, GB) It's 4:46 in the morning, and I'm not playing Tetris. How
in the world am I still awake? Tetris is an insomniac's dream, and terribly
addictive.
12. Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) Another quarter-eater. So addicting. (For the record,
I own the high score at a bowling alley in Lansing.)
11. Little Nemo, Dream Master (NES) What an awesome story. Some kid keeps
having dreams and you do stuff like you're tripping on acid. Very fun, and
quite difficult.
10. The Legend of Zelda (NES) Hard. Very hard. Also totally sweet. So much
fun.
9. Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrels (SNES) This RPG had an incredible storyline,
lots of challenging puzzles, and a cave 99 floors deep with a big blob of jelly
at the bottom. Need I say more?
8. Blades of Steel (NES) What a ridiculous way to play hockey, but so much fun.
It even had a guy say "face-off" and "fight." I dare anyone to come to my room
and challenge me to a game. I haven't lost to anyone in the 13 years I've owned
the game. Bring it.
7. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) Everyone knows how sweet this game is, so I won't
repeat it.
6. Tactics Ogre (PSX) Awesome story, unique battle system (pre-FFTactics),
somewhat nonlinear, awesome.
5. Final Fantasy VII (PSX) I just started playing this game a couple weeks ago
(behind the times, I know), and I haven't been able to put it down. So much fun
stuff, an awesome story, and mindblowing FMV's (for the time).
4. Tetris Attack (SNES) The most awesomest puzzle game ever. There's nothing
like a 25-minute garbage match (I lost that game, by the way). Addicting as
heroin.
3. EarthBound (SNES) Wow. What a sweet RPG. Nevermind that it's completely
linear. It is hilarious. The story's good, the graphics are good, even the
music's good. Everything in this game is solid.
2. Final Fantasy VI (3) (SNES) Just so incredibly awesome. Everything about it
was great.
1. Chrono Trigger (SNES) Basically tied with FF3. The only thing it has over
FF3 is that it is very well polished.
