Put together all the traditional totalitarian regimes of the 40's:
Stalin's Russia, Hitler's Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Salazar's Portugal,
Franco's Spain, Peron's Argentina, and all the rest. The USA today has
more secret police agents and more secret police agencies than all of
them combined.

When I learned revolutionary politics in the late 60's we were collectively
down on racism, sexism, and agism. The struggle against agism was dropped
and has been totally lost. We had more freedom as kids 30 years ago in every
way. We failed the kids of today. That's one reason they don't want to
follow our path.

Don't worship random violence when there are so many kids who are politically conscious and committed to revolution.

Right on. Random violence is a symptom of society falling apart in decay.

Dig. The hostility these kids feel toward their school situations is
evidence that they have discerned the source of their intolerable problems,
in the institution which attempts to control their time most directly. You
rightly associated the school with prison, both primarily instruments of
repression. The State has become desperate in its last days, and fosters
a climate of hysteria. Without embarassment it has adopted the traditional
look and feel of fascism to control the populace on the streets, while
projecting absurdly false images of life on the mass media, like magic
lantern shows on the wall of a cave. Young people are well aware of what
a phony world they live in, and many of them have a good solid analysis
of the reality behind the scenes. The facade of fascist capitalism is
rapidly crumbling, and reality is waiting to be born.
