Technically my only road trip so far was to Madison and Green Bay to visit relatives, but it was still a thrill. I couldn't really trust the car mechanically because it would always act up on me, so I wasn't truly at ease. I plan to have the engine back in the car by spring so that I can drive to my Camp Staff National Training in southern Indiana with my newly operational Ghia. Well, at least that is my goal.

One cool site to check out is an article about driving a 1965 Porsche 356 on a road trip to Woodstock and the East coast, and it is on the Road and Track Archive site:

The 356 is essentially the exact same car as the Ghia, just with everything mechanical being one step up in quality from the Ghia, and arguably the design a step down. The description in the article could be applied directly to the Ghia like the "Turning on the heat with the mushroom shaped knob" and the way tight turns feel like you're driving a go-cart.
