: b. 26 Dec 1827 Al; d. 12 Jan 1911 Franklin Co, Al. He is buried in Madedonia and Bolin
Cementery located in Horseshoe Bend off Big Bear Creek. He was a member of the Old Burleson Masonic Lodge. He was a son of Pleasant Taylor b. 1805/6 NC d. 1865-73 Franklin Co, Al. He first m. Cynthia Overton thought to be the d/o Abner and Judy Overton from Raleigh, NC. She had a sister Kisey who stayed with her when John F. went to war and a brother, Marion Overton who m. Nancy Sarah Jane Taylor d/o Pleasant Taylor. She died after 1900 and is buried in the Overton Cementey at the Dow Overton Place in Franklin Co, Al. Their children were:
James F. b. 1849 ; Abner, b. 1853; and Mary Jane b. 1855 d. 25 Dec. 1912 who later m. William O. "Bill" Davis.
He second married Ridly Cathrine Jones Richardson b. 24 Aug. 1834 d. 10 Aug. 1918 and is buried in Madedonia and Bolin Cementery located in Horseshoe Bend off Big Bear Creek. She was a widow of Robert Wiley Richardson. ( known children by first marriage: Robert Jess; Diahah; Rhoda C. "Dora"; Nancy; Mary Alice)
John F. and Ridla's children are: Riley Franklin Taylor b. 6 Dec. 1872; Alma Rebecca Taylor m. Steve Lawler; and Florence Esther Taylor m. Joe Cooper.
John F. Taylor lived in a log cabin in Horseshoe Bend and owned a gin and grist mill which were operated by horses. He was also a farmer and grew corn. "The piles of corn looked like spikes of gold as Grandpa got the seed in Indiana after his release from Camp Chase in Ohio as prisoner of war. He brought seed home to his family". John F. Taylor had entered the War in 1862 at Mt. Springs Franklin Co at 38 years of age and he was discharged in Spring 1865 at Wheeler Station. Elected 2nd Lt. on Sept 7, 1862 and later promoted to 1st Lt. on Feb. 5, 1864. His sucessor as 2nd Lt. was SL Corsbie. He appeared on inspection report date July 16, 1864 commanded by Brig. General Roddy, Corinth, Miss. There is a clothing receipt role for clothing sold to officers in Dalton, Ga. on Mar 29, 1864. He was considered a veterinary and took care of horses. In a Tuscaloosa, Al Application for Resignation of Lt. John F. Taylor , Feb 23, 1865 approved and forwarded Captain Mason. Another resignation was dated Feb 22, 1865 and signed by S. Cooper AIG Richmond, Va. John F. was captured 25 Mar 1865 near Russellville. He was on a roll of prisoners of Nashville, Tn and transferred on April 2, 1865 to commissaryof prisoners. His name appeared on a roll of prisoners at Louisville, Ky. April 4, 1865 and from there sent to Camp Chase, Ohio. He received Oath of Allegiance at Camp Chase, Ohio on May 16, 1865. His application was number 4 in applying for a pension at age 79. He went before a probate Judge - JR Moody on Sept 13, 1907.

Both are buried in Taylor Cem, Frankfort, Franklin Co, Their children were all born in Franklin Co, Al.: Samuel L. b. 24 July 1874 (m. Eva R."Biddy" Taylor ); John F. b. 4 Aug 1855 (m. Lucy Taylor); , Sarah S. b. 30 Mar 1857; James M. b. 1860; Theodocia "Doshia" E., b. l 9 Feb 1862 (m Wm Pleasant Taylor) ; Rebecca Eva b. 1864 (m. Newt Williams); Massey Emm b. 1865 (m. Taylor, Joe C. (Joseph Caroll Taylor)
b. 1836 d. 1875 in a logging accident. He m. Judy Hughes. Their children were: Sarah M.; William Pleasant "Buck"; Martha Doshia; Judy C.(m. Hess Rikard) ; and Chapple Retter "Much" b. 27 Mar. 1873 (m. Henry Rikard). After Joe C. died, Judy m. Henry Rikard.
Note: The father, Pleasant Taylor was a noted pro-Union man of Franklin County, Alabama. He stated, " I advised my neighbors to vote against Secession and I so voted. I voted with the majority at the precint with 300 being against Secession and 9 for it. " Also he aided men and the families of Union soldiers get to Iuka, Miss. to federal Post in Glendale, Miss. ( Henry F. Rikard of Co A. 64 Ill. Inf; Grandson Williams; William Morris; David Hughes; and George Conway.)

James first m. to Mary MS "Lou" Taylor b. 7 Feb 1849 d/o Pleasant Taylor on 2 June 1864.. Their children were: Laura Bell,; Rhonda F.; and Jessie L. Second m. Lucinda E. Taylor d/o Pleasant Taylor on 17 Mar 1873. Their children were: Lee Taylor and Eva R. "Biddy" Taylor. James W. Taylor listed living alone on 1920 Census of Franklin County.

(Allen Haley Taylor) b. 15 May 1844 d. 25 July 1940 Al.. He was the son of "Parson" John A. Taylor and Mary Ann Prisoc. Allen is buried at Pleasant Site Cem. Franklin Co, Al. Site marked as serving in Co E 4th Al. First m. Mary Loucinda Hughes b, ca 1840 d. 10 Aug 1873 Ark. Their children were: Eliza Luellen; Juda C.; Rosa; John Allen; Rebecca Jane. Second m. Elizabeth "Betty" Winsted. Their children were: William David; Mary Annie; Nancy "Lizzie"; Lilly Annice; James Peterson; Lela; Joseph Monroe "Jake"; and Samuel T. "Pete". Allen H. and Elizabeth listed on 1920 Frankllin Co. Census.
