Comments: Dear "Little Arkansas'" Just thought I would say "Hi" as my path seems to have crossed yours at times. I lived in Houston, Texas from 1945 to 1981 and disliked it for the most part and now live in South Texas. In my youth I used to spend all the time I could,with my grandparents up in East Texas and my grandmother was "Bessie" Hamby Sanders, the g-g-g etc. grandaughter of Will Hamby (1744-1840) of Cades Cove. I've also done the cowboy action thing, only I started out as a kid on my own as grandpa had been the "real article" and I used his "tools" to shoot cans with. He had been up in OK with Dick West the last Dooling Gang member and was a hardcase in his yout . Both grandparents doted on me and my grandma (a Hamby, daughter of Jeff Davis Hamby of Anderson Co., TX) was the best person I ever knew. You come from a good line. On the "Little Arkansas" AKA I'm married to John Wesley Hardin's 4th cousin. John himself used that AKA and my wife remembers her grandfather John Wesley Tracy (a JWH 2nd cousin)who knew Hardin when he was a child. He also is thought to have figured someh w in the removal of John Selman who murdered Hardin. Since you are a SASS man I thought you would find this interesting. As an after thought there is a George Hardin who married into the line who was a second cousin also to JWH and about 1900, the son of ardin, John Wesley Hardin, Jr. came through Anderson County looking up relatives. My grandma remembered that. In closing I grew up being served "hot bread" off the ironstone platter of William Hamby of Cades Cove, only it was "Cadesville" in the old BIBLE. I still have the platter and it has I believe "Fenton, England" on the reverse. Best Regards, Cousin Alan
