Floyd Tillman, a prolific songwriter and instrumentalist, has been writing and performing for more than five decades. In 1939, he signed a contract with Decca and scored his biggest hit five years later. Floyd switched to Columbia in 1946, after a stint in the military. It was with Columbia that he recorded his most famous hits such as I Love You So Much It Hurts and Slipping Around. Floyd made his Grand Ole Opry debut in 1947. After being dropped from Columbia, he had stints with Cimarron, Starday and a few other small labels, but was unable to regain chart presence. However, his touring and performing schedule remained active. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1984.
His material is extremely difficult to find. Checking with several of my internet and other sources, I located The Best of Floyd Tillman. The CD contains 24 sides, including Slipping Around, I Love You So Much It Hurts, Each Night at Nine and This Cold War With You.
