Before I actually brought this CD, I used to pick it up when ever I was at a record store just to look at the photos, especially the one on the left in the booklet. I think it's absolutely awesome: I wouldn't like to have this CD signed because of the photos.
I think when I first heard about the concept David + orchestra, I thought of Taking Off. When I finally heard Pearls, I was disappointed, because I expected David to interact with a string section (like on Taking Off). Instead the orchestra supports David's playing, much like on Michael Kamen's Concerto For Saxophone.
Pearls is originally on a Sade album "Love Deluxe". It's a really sad song (read the lyrics) and David sticks to the atmosphere really well.
My favorite songs: Nobody Does It Better, This Masquerade
This album needs time, don't listen to it when you're excited or in a hurry. The perfect music to meditate, think, write letters or make love to.
