B*U*S*H in Ohio

Well chickadee's it goes like this Concert girl headed out to the Polaris Amphitheater Sunday June 29th to see her ever favorite B*U*S*H guys in action. It was a rough start though I was going by myself which didn’t please my parents and then I mentioned that I would be hanging out to try and get autographs, and they flipped, they didn’t want me out there by myself cuz it could have been dangerous. Well anyway I left pretty early and it started to rain when I got to the amphitheater I couldn’t find the right entrance, and when I finally did the cars were lined up cuz they wouldn’t open the gates. They finally let us in and I had a camera and some plastic daisy’s for the guys during Greedy Fly there’s a line that goes "I’m screaming daisy’s from 14 miles away" so I thought they would be appropriate. I got in there and met up with some people from the bush list. This one girl was supposed to have shown up and gotten me back stage (we’d been talking about it for over a month) but she was a no-show... that’s OK, things rocked anyway! I had awesome seats front row just to the left of the Bassist so I could see everything. The first band to play was Souls and they were pretty good their from Sweden. After their set I stood by the stage to get one of their set lists. There was this body guard that I had been talking too and he was telling me that the roadies were really busy and they the probably wouldn’t hear me. I just laughed and said that I do this all the time, and sure enough I got one guys attention and snagged the set list. The next group was Jesus Lizard... they were pretty good... really loud and intense... though the power went out in the middle of their set which really sucked! There was a thunder storm going on and everyone with lawn seats were getting soaked. The lead singer of JL was pretty crazy though, he mooned the crowd and was going to take his pants off and wrap a towel around himself while they were trying to get the power back on but fortunately they didn’t let him. So the power came back on and the finished their set the whole time Gavin, Robin, Dave, and Nigel were standing on the side of the stage this drove everyone crazy and they started trying to get closer to get a better look. One girl sitting next to me saw Robin up on stage and said "Look it’s Gavin" I just looked at her and told her no that it was Robin the drummer... gotta love Gavin lovers who don’t know who all’s in the band! Anyway, they started setting up for Bush and we were all getting very antsy. Some of us on the side stood up to go to the barricade but the guard said that we couldn’t be there, that we had to stand in front of our seats, well as soon as Bush got on stage, those of us up front made a dash for the stage and I was in front row right in front of Dave the whole time. It was great. I got some awesome pictures too! So they played and they played and they played though I think I liked the Atlanta show better there just seemed to be more energy or something to that one... they were really good last night but I don’t know maybe I was just tired and not as into it this time. The guard had told me not to throw the daisy’s on stage cuz the guys didn’t want anything on stage I just told him okay and that I was just going to hold it up so that they could see it. Of course when they played Greedy Fly I waved them in the air and then like the bad seed that I am I threw it on stage anyway. I think Dave saw me do it and then Gavin was walking along to go play on the side of the stage and he looked down and saw them there and then stepped over them. Gavin went into the crowd a couple of times to play and this of course freaked out the security guards... they were worried that he was going to get mauled by the teeny-bopper masses. At one point he took a rose from someone in the crowd and put it in his mouth. The encore was good, though they kept teasing the crowd before they came back out. They would flicker the lights and stuff and they did this for about 5 minutes. Then they came back out and played 4 more songs including my fav, Little Things. (They played my favorite this time too, Body. So it was all incredibly exciting and got even more so when I got Gavin’s guitar pic!!!!!!!!! He played part of Little Things and then threw it into the crowd it went toward the people next to me but they knocked it onto the floor next to body guard that I talked with earlier. The people next to me were asking for it and then I pointed it out to him and he just said for us to relax and he’d get it in a few. Another guy asked him for it but he said that others had dibs on it and then he picked it up and gave it to me! I was so ecstatic!!! To make matters better I stood there after the show and the roadies came right out and I asked a guy for the set list and he handed it to me... and no one else was clamoring for it!!! It was so great! I thought about waiting over by the busses but I was tired and had to get up for work so I figured I would quit while I was ahead and just go home. I didn’t think much about the flowers after I left hell I wasn’t thinking about much of anything but today at work my mom called so that I could hear a message that was left for me on the answering machine see I’d left my e-mail addy and my phone # on the card I put with the flower telling the guys that I thought they were spectacular in Atlanta and thanking Gavin for keeping me warm while I was outside after the show, etc... I didn’t actually think that their body guard was going to spot my flowers on the guys tour bus and call me to say thanks for going to the show and that he’ll try to reach me later!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn’t that just awesome????? I still can’t believe it all happened... I can’t wait till those pictures develop, their going to be some great shots. Right before playing Greedy Fly Gavin took off his shirt (thank you!) so those will be good shots none the less. ;) The power went out for them too right in the middle of Cold Contagious. It fortunately didn’t last for long though and they just started the whole song over again. All in all it was yet another great experience I wish I had met the guys but I think I’m pretty damn lucky to have the pic and the set list so I won’t complain. Hmmm wonder what I can get from the Wallflowers show in 2 weeks? ;)
