The collection hits are made up of seventeen songs specially selected from her first three full-length albums, such as "Beast" (or Guai Shou), "I'm A Female Student" (or Wo Shi Nu Sheng), "Miao Miao Miao", "Love Is Like A Heavy Flu" (or Ai Xiang Yi Chang Zhong Gan Mao), "Call Me" and the duet with Richie Ren "Crystal" (or Shui Jing).  The surprising thing is that none of the songs from her fourth solo effort "Love" (which was released in January this year) are found here.  Refer below for the full song listing in Big5 Chinese.

This is a two-CD album.  Disc 1 contains new works, including the first single cum title track "Beginning From Now" which is composed by Dave himself.  On the other hand, Disc 2 revives six of his past hits, complete with new arrangements and singing.  They include his very first hit "A Game, A Dream" (or Yi Chang You Xi Yi Chang Meng), "Annie" (or An Ni) and the Cantonese hit "Still Have" (or Hai You) (originally a duet track sung with Sandy Lam).

Elva's (or Xiao Ya Xuan) "Red Rose" retained most of the international production team of her debut effort such as Taiwan's Chen Wei (who produced her very first single "No One" or "Mei You Ren"), Korea's Jae Y. Chong (who produced her dance hit "Cappuccino") and Malaysia's Playtime Production (who produced her R&B track "Best Known Stranger" or "Zui Shou Xi De Mo Sheng Ren").  In addition, this current album has roped in Hong Kong's Chris Babida to further strengthen the music cast.

The first ballad single "Rose" is a cover of the Japanese track "Oh I .....", composed and originally performed by Japan's R&B newcomer Sakura.  The second single "Own Brilliance" is another cover of a Thai dance number.

Singer Sky Wu (or Wu Si Kai) also composed a ballad track "Weather Outside The Window", which is the Mandarin theme-song for the new US movie "Autumn In New York" starring Richard Gere & Winona Ryder and directed by Joan Chen (or Chen Chong).

The album CD comes in the CD-Plus format, meaning it doubles up as a CD-Rom which contains the music video for her first single "Rose".

Produced by the Singapore twins Li Si Song and Li Wei Song, her latest offering contains works from many prominent song-writers such as Lin Xi, Pan Xie Qing, Chen Jian Ning/Chen Zheng Qing, local journalist/lyricist Wu Qing Kang and EMI Music's pop king Phil Chang (or Zhang Yu).  

The first single cum title track ballad "Heartbreak Romance" is Na Ying's first music collaboration with Phil Chang (he composed the song while she wrote the lyrics), which seeks to portray the feelings of two ex-lovers when they meet again after a long period of separation.  Na Ying's inspiration for the lyrics reportedly came from the love experience of a personal friend cum colleague of hers.  

The second single "Betrayed" is another ballad written by Zhou Bo Xiong (or Xiao Gang) and written by Lin Xi.

Besides the usual ballads, Na Ying also sang a range of different styles of light-tempo tracks, like the Latin flavour "Leave With Me", the new-age "Be Myself" and the techno dance number "Play Among Bitterness".  The latter song is reportedly banned from airplay in the mainland due to the extent of pessimism contained in the lyrics.  But ironically, it has been chosen as the first single to be plugged in Hong Kong (which is part of China anyway).

As many as six music videos are scheduled to be shot, which signals the high level of confidence that the record company has on Na Ying's new release.  Personally I've been disappointed by all her MTVs from her previous album "Clear Cut" (or Gan Cui) as the visuals look so out-dated.  But I've seen two of her new music videos and I'm glad to say that they are definitely much better.  Two final notes : the MTVs are filmed in the south-eastern part of China, Da Lian, which is also Na Ying's own birth-place; the leading man, Lu Yi, featured in the music video of her first single "Heartbreak Romance" is reportedly one of the hottest TV actors in China right now.
