For the last few years of his life during the 1990s, he lived in Fiji butbecame critically
ill there and was medically evacuated to Sydney where he died in hospitalin June 2000.
Ronald George Patterson was a bank officer in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea.He met and married Kathleen Dunning, a nursing sister there, in November1939. They were amongst the last to get out before the war.
Sadly, they were divorced around 1966 and Ronald died on April 11 1972.In 2000, Kathleen is still going strong at 94.
