James
Read nasceu no dia 31 de julho de 1953 em Buffalo, Nova
Iorque, mas fora criado em Schenectady, Nova Iorque. Filho de um
executivo de uma companhia de telefone, era o filho do meio,
tinha um irmão mais velho, que faleceu, e possui um irmã mais
nova.
Casou-se com Wendy Kilbourne em 1988 e com ela teve dois filhos.
Atualmente vive em Santa Barbara, na Califórnia.
Adora velejar, esquiar, jogar tenis e ouvir música.
Ficou conhecido como ator por seu papel como George Hazard na
mini-série "North and South". James já fez vários papéis em sua
carreira de 20 anos como ator.
Seu primeiro trabalho como ator de televisão fora na série "Remington
Steele", e logo depois atuou junto com Margot Kidder na série da
CBS "Shell Game". Já fez diversas participações especiais em
vários programas de televisão. Atualmente pode ser visto em
Charmed como o pai de três bruxas poderosas. E atuou no filme
"Legalmente Loira" como o pai da Reese Witherspoon.
