Saci-pererê
The saci is a little black boy, a slave who suffered and ended up being killed by his owners. Some stories tell us that his owners hated him because he was too smart, others, because he was joyful. This free spirit led him into having his leg covered in honey and buried into an antnest, and that's why he stands on one leg, jumping around. Even this did not sadden him, and so he was killed, but he reappeared as something else than human to haunt those who were so cruel towards him.
He might be visible, and in the next moment, invisible, and he is only noticed because of small whirlwinds he creates. He wears a bright red magical cap and likes to smoke a pipe, and is always whistling loudly and irritatingly, jumping around.
According to the legend, he may be good or evil, but he is always up to some mischief: at home, he keeps making a mess, making the food get burned, blowing out the fire in the middle of cooking, hiding things, slapping doors shut and making liquids pour on the floor. On the outside, he opens farm doors, scaring away cattle, he makes horses stampede, while tangling their manes and tail in knots very difficult to untangle. At night, he shouts make people loose their way on the countryside or forest.
